Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012well, I have an unconditional from Glasgow Caledonian and am waiting for feedback from Robert Gordon and QMU. See, if I knew which one was better, I would have already made a decision whether to accept the offer or not.(Original post by ddaannyyeell)
have you guys applied for other unis?
I have also applied for Napier and Glasgow Caledonian... what do you think of these two in comparison to QMU?
and what do you think about the reputation of QMU? more than reputation I mean job prospects?
I think that for my course (Film/media at QMU and Media/Communication at GCU), QMU might be more focused on practical experience. I also like that it is smaller. Although Calley is huge, it is in the city centre, which is a big plus as I like living in the city.
Regarding the reputation, however, I think they both have good job prospects - if you believe their numbers. GCU's reputation might be slightly better for certain courses because it's better known in the industries? But I don't know really... -
Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012you are lucky one :-) congrats! does that mean that you already have your secondary school diploma?(Original post by StineS)

I have a conditional offer from GCU however the condition is a bit exaggerated (I don't understand it - when I compare the A-levels entry requirements to our Czech system it should be lower)
First I thought that QMU is quite bad in terms of rankings ect. but then I found that it is not entirely true...
e.g. Guardian ranks QMU better than GCU (in business and management)

anyway, where are you guys going to stay (if you accept the offer)? in halls? or will you look for a flat?
and does anybody know if I now apply for uni accommodation am I obliged to accept the accommodation? I mean is it possible to cancel the request for accommodation later? -
Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012
yeah, I left high school a while ago
good luck with your exams!
I will def stay in halls for the first year. just to meet people and it's easier to get managed from abroad
If I understood it right you apply for accomodation and get an offer if you're lucky. If you accept that offer is your choice! -

I will see... I still don't know whether to stay in halls or to rent a flat... cause financially it's almost the same... of course renting a flat is a bit more expansive but not much as far as I know

Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012Hey, congratulations!(Original post by favizienyte1)
Hey guys,
I have got an unconditional offer from QMU for Media and I made it my firm choise. Is anyone planing on renting a flat, if so where is the best place to do so ? Is it more expencive to live off campus?
well, I may consider renting a flat... but still not sure (I have just conditional offer for Business Management so I will start to solve this after my final exams - during the summer)
however, I think that living somewhere in Protobello wouldn't be bad... it's close enough to QMU and at the same time not too far from the city center -
Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012Have you looked at IQ residences? They're really nice, it's available to students from all the Unis in Edinburgh.(Original post by favizienyte1)

I've got my room booked there already. You should take a look if you're interested in renting off campus. So worth it, the rooms are amazing and the staff are so so nice.
I've visited it a few times. The only negative is that it's quite a long bus ride to the uni, if that bothers you.
On another note, I have a conditional from QMU for psychology.
Not sure if I'm firming it yet, I'm still waiting for Edinburgh and Napier. Anyone else got an offer for psychology?

Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012It is much cheaper off the campus. I pay same price for whole flat ( 15 min from the Princes Street ) as for the room on the campus. The flat is not that modern as campus rooms , but still(Original post by favizienyte1)

Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012Hey Beth(Original post by beth-gh)
hi!
I've applied to do Media and Film and Media too, have conditional offers for both. I can't make up my mind on whether to go to QMU or napier, any help there?
Also visited the campus, it's really nice and modern!

Well done on getting your conditionals
I've firmed my choice at QMU to study Media
What I like about QMU is that its not directly in the city. The town of Musselburgh is beautiful! It gives you the best of both worlds, all of the good points of city life and the choice to stay in a quieter part of edinburgh

Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012
I think I'm about to firm it as my first choice! I live about 45 minutes away from Musselburgh, so I know my way about and I'll be staying at home and just travelling in each day. I never got a chance to see the media department at QMU, is it any good?

hey, I have got almost the same problem... just deciding between QMU and Glasgow Caledonian... however I will probably firm QMU - because the more I know about the uni the more I like it
and I have been to the campus and loved it... it seems to be way better and modern than GCU
so hopefully see ya there in September

Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012i'm doing events management, but going into my second year(Original post by nicolabeat)
Is anyone at all doing Events Management at QMU? So excited for next year!
i'm excited for it as it's gonna be totally different from college!

Re: Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: applicants 2012I firmed mine yesterday, so here's hoping I can make the conditions! The Uni is nice and there's lots to do locally :-)(Original post by ddaannyyeell)

I haven't had all my replies yet though, so I'm not sure if I'm going to QMU. Looks like it for the moment.
