Working internationally with KPMG & General questions
Hello!
I'm studying a BSc in Accounting and Finance and I'm currently averaging a first in my penultimate year. I plan on completing a masters in accounting and qualifying to work internationally.
I'm wondering how easy it is to work internationally with KPMG? I currently live and study in Ireland. During my hypothetical training period with KPMG, would this be possible or would it only be with a full contract after that?
Also, I currently have no student loans and work practically full time in addition to university to finance my studies. Due to this, I cannot see myself having time right now, or it being financially feasible, to do an internship. A lecturer in university advised me that holding my job for so long would be looked on similarly to an internship, despite it not being related to accounting/finance. Is this true, or is it much more important to have a relevant internship?
Would it be better to apply for a job this coming Autumn and tell KPMG I'd be interested in studying a masters, or would it be better to just apply for some sort of work placement/internship and go into my masters then? By the summer I will have completed my degree but not yet fully graduated.
Any relevant information you can provide is greatly appreciated, thank you greatly for taking the time to look at this! -
Re: Working internationally with KPMG & General questions
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your question.
Upon obtaining a professional qualification, you will have the opportunity to apply for international secondments/opportunities if that is the route you wish to pursue. During your graduate scheme, they may be the opportunity to work abroad but this will depend on your client portfolio/the area you work in.
Our vacation programme is open to candidates in their penultimate year of study. If you’re currently in your final year and going on to study a one year Masters’ degree, you’re eligible to apply for the vacation programme. You’ll need to provide suitable evidence that you’ve secured a place on a Masters’ degree in order to apply.
I hope this helps?
All the best,
Lizzie.
