Marcelo did... but Rafael Silva, Juan Jesus etc are hardly poor either. Face it hater Messi is leagues above Ronaldo who... managed to do what against Denmark?
Where at all did I mention anything about either of the players? Yes Brazil are very suspect in defence which is the point I'm making. Never mind I've just seen some of your other posts in the football forum haha.

I don't understand this constant comparison of two great footballers where if you think one is better than the other you automatically have to insult the other. They are both great players and I personally think Ronaldo is better in the sense that he ticks all the boxes; he's an aerial threat, can score from range, excellent with both feet, amazing technical ability, skills to amaze, deadball specialists, an eye for an assist etc while Messi is just mesmerising to the point where you know what he's going to do yet you still can't stop him.

Messi is just a magician, if you were a football coach you would show the kids clips of Ronaldo because he theoretically is as close as you can get to a perfect forward and not Messi who is a once in a generation type of player who has a unique way of playing football which is close to impossible to teach. Messi is clearly the better player although a comparison is unfair as they are completely different players but what annoys me the most is this constant portrayal of Messi as the "good" guy and Ronaldo as the "bad" guy when in truth they are both really likeable people off the pitch and have both done some very decent notable things.

You didn't.. but you hinted that none of their top defenders played, meaning that anybody could have scored a hatrick against Brazil which is ridiculous.

Never mind, I just seen you're a Chelsea fan? Sums it up really.

Marcelo is a novice now is he? That was one game though... remind of the last time Ronaldo had a good game for Portugal?

Re: Where's Cristinao Ronaldo, you seen him?
I hate when people assume Ronaldo is now a rubbish player because he missed a sitter in one match (which they won) and that he doesn't show up in big games. When in fact Messi has not scored against Real Madrid in any of the last 4 clasico's while Ronaldo has scored in 3 of those. Also Ronaldo is obviously going to be the prime target of the defence and if you watched the game yesterday Kjaer was stuck to him the whole match. And not to mention he is a winger not a striker.

    Edit: spelling error :P

    I watch many thanks.

It is well known Messi doesnt always perform up to his level at Argentina, just like Ronaldo hasnt done the past 2 weeks, thus to base a whole argument on cherry picked examles is stupid.

Actually, I was hinting at the fact that I'm not at all surprised that Messi scored a hat trick at Brazil, given they have been a complete mess in defence in all their recent games, but being an armchair fan you wouldn't know that would you, now jog on.

Re: Where's Cristinao Ronaldo, you seen him?
Oh look, another hate thread for Cristiano Ronaldo. Why single him? What about Robben, RVP, Torres, Balotelli etc? I'll tell you why, you're so jealous of the guy. I don't blame you, but can you not keep the jealousy inside?

He's played very well but has just fluffed his chances. Did Messi not do that in the Semi-Final of the Champions League against Chelsea? Oh he did, but you don't see me making stupid threads like 'Where's Lionel Messi, you seen him?' Because I know that would be utterly stupid of me.

Just appreciate the god damn talent of the two. Comparing is understandable (although they're two different players; one's a CF and the other is a LW) but to hate on one is pathetic.

I think Ronaldo>Messi. But I would never dream of making a hate thread about Messi.

Can't we just respect them both? Some people always need to spread hate... and unfortunately, TSR seem to like spreading it about CR7.

Spot on. It's just jealousy. What else can it be?

Yes because conceding 17 goals in their past 21 games is so terrible isn't?

You clearly don't. Otherwise you'd know Messi has been Argentina's best performer in most of their games. But like most idiots these days you believe he was poor just because he didn't score goals...

Just like Ronaldo hasn't done the past 2 weeks? More like years.

Guys lets just let this thread die, people have different opinions and views but we can all agree Messi and Ronaldo have been poor internationally compared to their domestic forms.

The BBC Sportsday page seems to be welcoming the trolls this fine morning. One header against a really awful Czech team and suddenly he is the messiah :adore:

Can't deny that he is on the verge of carrying a pretty mediocre Portugal side to the final.

Last night the Czechs were a complete shambles, men against boys. Ronaldo had a decent enough game but why everyone is obsessing over it I have no idea. If he repeats it against Spain then it might be different but a few games doesn't suddenly reverse years of inferiority.

Yeah fair enough, if he does do it against Spain, then boy oh boy!
