Re: Ronaldo > MessiWait i forgot football was won with 10 attackers am i right?(Original post by pgreg1)
And let's face it, Argentina aren't exactly short on talent, are they? Tevez, Aguero, Di Maria, Mascherano, Banega, Higuain ...
Look at Portugal, Ronaldo is the only stand out player really, some good players but no way near Argentina's class.
To the person above, it's quite funny how you mentioned Ronaldo's penalty miss in the CL final when he scored in that game.
Hmm portugal have Nani, Pepe, Bruno alves, Moutinho, Coentrao thats what you call balanced their not all stacked in one position. -
Re: Ronaldo > MessiWas on about Real Madrid and i was being sarcastic about the Bundesliga. I watch La liga, Bundesliga and Premier league (serie A when i can).(Original post by isitinyet?)
he's 6ft1/2 and wins far more in the air for club/country (slightly flawed as barca hardly put in an aerial cross).
I'd rather have a striker who scores lots of tap in's for his country than a striker who scores the odd spectacular goal for his country. But, if you believe portugals tactics consist of 'holding a ball on a line for ronaldo to tap it in', then i really cba to carry on the debate with you. Good night! -
Re: Ronaldo > MessiNo he doesn't. Since Ronaldo moved to Madrid, Messi has scored 155 goals in 155 appearances. Ronaldo has scored 133 in 133. So not only are they the same in goal scoring terms, but you're going to get more games out of Messi and he's going to score in the bigger games. That's also not even counting how many penalties they've both had, which would lower Ronaldo's more than Messi's.(Original post by isitinyet?)
he has a better goals per game ratio than messi for one, and they aren't comparable at all to the quality in the argentine team. Seems a bit hypocritical of you to come out with that after stating my 'logical is stupid'.
o rly? How many of them are on track to score 40+ goals like messi is in la liga? None? Messi would not be scoring goals at will in the PL. Even disregarding the physicality, there's just a better standard in the PL that Ronaldo dominated. I like how you state messi is stronger than these players, where's your evidence? In fact i'd like to see your evidence for messi being quicker than mata and aguero.
In all honesty, your argument is based upon your perceptions, not fact.
3 of them aren't even strikers, so of course they aren't going to score 40+. And Aguero isn't going to get 40+ because he's not as good as Ronaldo and Messi obviously. These threads pop up every so often and it's not "Who's the best player in the world, Ronaldo/Messi/Aguero?" is it?
Better standard in the PL?
That's why there's been 1 (maybe 2) English teams past the QF's of the CL in the last 3 years, and why there is only 1 English team left in Europe compared to Spain's 5.
I'd like to see your evidence too btw.Last edited by CB91; 02-04-2012 at 00:25. -
Re: Messi > RonaldoThere's lot's of videos, people say Messi does not score headers I provide evidence that he does. But let me guess you probably think Rooney is better(Original post by Tommyjw)
God i do hate this 'look at this random singled out youtube video to prove how concrete my view is!' crap.

How is Ronaldo more likeable? -

Re: Ronaldo > Messironaldo was playing on the wing for united in the PL, he wasn't a striker yet managed 30+ goals.(Original post by CB91)

i was talking about goals per game ratio in internationals, maybe try reading the post before you jump to a conclusion irrelevant to the discussion we were having.
sorry, united v chelsea final, united v barca final, liverpool v ac milan final, united v barca final. Cba to wiki the stat's as I'll have to go through several pages but i'm 99% sure in the last 5 years there's only been one final without an english team? Also the semi finals in recent years have been dominated by english teams.

Re: Ronaldo > MessiThere is an argument to be had, Ronaldo should be the best player in the world, but Messi just provides that spark when his team needs it, in the biggest games.
Ronaldo isn't doing that consistently for Real Madrid, certainly not in the biggest games. He can do it, he did it for United, he just needs to do it more against teams like Barcelona for Real.
They are two very different players. If I was putting a dream team together but could only have one or the other, I'd take Ronaldo. One thing he has done which Messi hasn't is adapt to a different team, and change his game. -
Re: Ronaldo > MessiYou do know Messi was a playmaker for Argentina? His job wasn't to score goals but set them up. So obviously he isn't going to have the same goals per game ratio in internationals.(Original post by isitinyet?)

Re: Ronaldo > MessiI quoted the wrong thing(Original post by Jordan_1)
According to TRS-T he is.

Meant the thing about him not being able to perform if he was in premier league -
Re: Ronaldo > Messiyeah but ronaldo hasn't always been up front for portugal either, he did start on the wing for several years where his main concern would also have been to provide assists.(Original post by Jordan_1)

You said "he has a better goals per game ratio than messi for one". I proved you wrong and now you're back tracking. If you can't think of a response, don't try and lie. You mentioned nothing about internationals (even then, they both don't play their usual positions for their national teams and their scoring records are similar anyway).
United v Chelsea and Liverpool v Milan? You mean two finals that took place 4 and 5 years ago? The last time an English team had 3 teams in the semi-finals was 4 seasons ago. That's a lifetime in football, have a look at the squads from then to now, they are drastically different (and worse).Last edited by CB91; 02-04-2012 at 00:43. -
Re: Ronaldo > MessiNo, we were discussing how messi doesn't seem to recreate his form for argentina whereas ronaldo seems to perform marginally better for portugal even considering he isn't surrounded by the same amount of talent. That's why the goals per game ratio came up for internationals. I deleted my posts because you were negging me and however sad that is, i find it worse that you need to neg instead of leaving at replies. You can refer back to the posts Bryci quoted me in if you don't believe me.(Original post by CB91)

When was the last time there were 3 spanish semi finalists?
edit: response to your edit, ronaldo also played on the wing and scored/assisted on numerous occasions?Last edited by isitinyet?; 02-04-2012 at 00:50.
