What about Marls/Sols? :s-smilie:

Marlborough and Solsbury are the 2nd best rooms, after Woodland Court.

Woodland has the option for studio rooms with ensuite and a kitchenette, I believe. At the very least they can get double beds, whereas Marls and Sols can only go as big as a room + ensuite?

But still, it seems that "regular" people would need to pay all of their maintenance support in rent, so I guessed that it was for those who had a little extra...

Yeah loads

After asking about your course, where you're living, and where you're from, sport is the next biggest question in Fresher's Week.. it's mental.

In first year I did Ultimate Frisbee and Kickboxing, and in 2nd year I'm in the Snowsports team. Then I just do swimming, tennis, squash whenever I can fit it in (which is less and less often nowadays!)

Are you going to do any sports?

Pretty much, we don't allow them the luxury of being treated like 'regular' people though, we prefer to embarass them mercilessly

Yeah there's free wi-fi across campus, you'll be given directions on how to set it up when you arrive in fresher's week

It's really fast in the mornings and early afternoon, then slows down a bit in the evening (though you can still play 720p youtube videos, play games online, etc without any problem).

The only time it's noticeably slow is during the revision weeks, because then you've got a lot of 2nd, 3rd, 4th years spending all day on campus in the library, slowing the internet down.

Saturday mornings, the internet is atomically fast, downloaded a 20GB computer game in 45 mins :colone:

edit: btw guys, if any of you have general uni / accommodation questions then feel free to quote-ask me, and I'll do my best to answer them

How much do they censor the internet sites you can use? Like you're allowed to go on Facebook and stuff? Do they block illegal download sites or anything else?

I was just wondering, does Bath have any 5-a-side football pitches?

That's odd, when I applied for halls a couple of years ago they let you choose a main choice and a back-up :s-smilie:

Nah only one this year.

Hi Guys

It dosen't seem like many people are applying to Polden Court... I thought it looked quite good with the Eat and Drink card thing, and it would be awesome to have a bathtub :P
I was going ot apply to Marlborough/Solsbury but it seems unlikely to get a place there when I'm not applying until I've been to the Open Day on the 18th :/
Can anyone tell me what Polden Court is like? Location, likely people, niceness etc :P

Well it's like the most expensive accommodation on campus so be prepared to be with people whose parents have a lot of money to spend on them (this may be a good or a bad thing in your opinion). It also may have postgrads as it says '125 rooms available to undergraduates and School of Management overseas postgraduates', so just be aware of that.

However it is probably the best on campus accommodation you can get, even includes TV with licence, and bath as you said.

If you don't want to do self catering, Brendon Court also has the same card deal, though it is not en suite.

Well I'm hoping the mix of people won't be too bad due to it being quite reasonable with it being catered factored in the price, then again coming for a northern bad state college it could be quite a culture shock :/ and it is maybe a bit of a concern that there won't be many undergrads there to socialise with .
Ah Im unsure about it all, perhaps I should sacrifice the ensuite
