Neither Arsenal or United got battered 5-1 so your point is invalid. Don't forget the fact that Arsenal beat them 2-1 at the Emirates last year. Considering that Arsenal had average players aswell. Let's see you guys do such at Stamford bridge so anyway best of luck matey
Well, we lost 5-1 in 1999, before we had a squad capable of winning the CL and it was our first season in the CL and we faced a heavyweight so what do you expect? Look at leverkusen vs barca. That was the difference between the two teams, or tottenham vs real madrid last season. We were much weaker than we are now. I'm just saying that's all our results against barca. We beat them 4-2, 1-0, lost to them 1-0 and have drawn the rest of the matches we have faced them in since we got regular CL football i.e. 2004 onwards. So that isn't really a bad record. So really, it's like saying that chelsea beat man city 6-0 a couple of years ago before they had this new team, so city stand no chance against chelsea, completely forgetting that recent results show that the matches are much closer now.

I'm sure chelsea have the same amount of wins against barca that they have and we've matched them in recent years. The rest of the matches were draws. Chelsea fans don't have much crying to talk about bar the 09 match which were 2 draws so we didn't get our asses handed to us. Just to correct you. Messi hasn't even scored against us. Don't put us in the same category.
jesus christ has it really got to this?

anything to detract from an excellent footballing side and player

Not really, I'm just saying, they're a great side, but have they whooped chelsea recently? no they haven't and every match we've lost had 1 or 2 goals in it. Plus I'm just saying that for the messi bum boys.

Someone said they've handed chelsea's ass to them, I said they haven't in recent years, they've only whooped us once, in our first EVER season in the champions league in 1999. Similar to what happened to tottenham and the final score was 6-4 over the two legs.

Anyway well done for taking my post out of context :yy:

Man Utd lost by 2 goals in each of their meetings at the final, yet by most people's judgement (well, maybe not man utd fans), they got their asses whooped - in the context of those matches. And then you have Arsenal, despite being the closest team last season in coming to knocking Barcelona out of the champions league (coming just 1 away goal from doing so and Bendtner even had a great chance late in the match), most people were saying how they got completely embarassed at the nou camp, noting that they didn't even register a single shot on goal.

Anyway this is pathetic, we're just arguing over details here. My point from the first post you quoted from me, was that Barcelona are hated here because of jealousy stemming from the number of times they've knocked English clubs out of the champions league.

Yes, that's true. I agree, but there's not much need to be jealous as a chelsea fan and them knocking us out. We weren't beaten by the better team. But anyway yeah this is pathetic, we'll see how it goes on wednesday.
