I've just done some research on the physical geography of Nepal, a bit on the energy mix and a lot of research on charity work there. I think a question on charities and possibly specific to Practical Action will definitely come up
    Why charities?? *confused*

The end link of Item 6 is to a website called practicalaction.org
They are a charity, I think it is likely we will get asked something about them, so reading about what they do would be wise.

what was the 1st question again? i forgot :P
It was describe a method of showing tourists by type and justify it. I wrote pie chart, described how it was created and then said it was quick and easy to use in terms of spotting differences in sizes of tourist type and I also said it could be produced using a computer which made it quicker and more efficient to produce.

    3 15 markers!
Almost cried when I realised that!
The first and last were very similar too.
The representating/interpreting data questions were throwing away marks, such a good paper
But I'm worrying if I found it easy I've done something wrong!

ahh yes of course, i mentioned both a pie chart and stacked bar graph and mentioned how they offered a accurate and easy to interpret visual presentation of data.

I think I might have gone a bit off point on the question about the Himalayas being a fragile region. I started talking about tourists depleting plant populations and producing too much waste. Then I talked about global warming and its effects on glaciers and permafrost. Does this sound a bit off???

I did exactly the same. I felt I went off on a bit of a tangent.

Really didn't like the graph questions and the very first q. Just blagged them. Tbh, not expecting anything higher than a C.
Our class did the other unit- 4A- which was on a piece of fieldwork we each did. Both of us got Es. Hope thats not the case this time! D:

No it depends on how you phrased it and brought it back to the question itself so it should be fine I mentioned the tourists too

Me too. I wrote about tourists and climate change and the effects both have on the Himalayas!

That paper is so stupid, what a waste of time, I spend a whole year learning about Plate Tectonics, Weather, Development and Conflicts and then 20% of my A-Level and 40% of my A2 is on a paper where they give you a booklet to read. i.e. like GCSE English.

Q1: pie chart. explained how to make one, the pros being its easy to compare values and easy to make etc.

Q2: High Tourism in Medium weather like sept/oct and march times... because tourists dont want to climb mt everest in severe conditions (and non trekkers will not go in the cold) and trekkers want a challenge so wont go in summer

Q3: Discussed why its fragile, i.e 1k plant species and rare animals such as the one horned rhino (im sure its from there) and how any affect on the ecosystem would take ages to rebuild. threats: tourism - litter, erosion, pollution from transport, deforestation for lodges and to make space for infrastructure. Other threat was firewood... the deforestation = destruction of habitat.

Q4: Discussed why biogas was better than firewood, i.e less pollution, less harmful, does not require deforestation and only costs $350 dollars per plant. Also said how to some degree it diversifies/creates employment. Said Hydraulic electric power would meet all needs, create massive revenue, massive employment, no pollution

Gave facts & figures for all, some were made up lol... Aiming for low B/High C. Exam went very, very well given I started revision some 10 hours before the exam.

Yeah, I thought the paper was stupid. It didn't really test that much of your knowledge. LOL at "40% of my A2 is on a paper where they give you a booklet to read." I agree. Its quite stupid.

The information was there. It just wasn't related back to the question a lot. What mark do you think I would get for that???
