    Gyms in Manchester
    It's looking like I'll be studying in Manchester from september/october and I'm trying to find a suitable gym in advance so my workouts aret interrupted trying to find a decent one.

    The accomodation I applied for is actually a 45+ minute walk away from the city centre according to google maps (M14 5QE) so I need one with parking facilities if its near the city centre.

    So far Ive found;

    Momentum Lesisure club and The gym

    But they both seem to be really commercial gyms and Im struggling to work out if they have free weights, seems to just be machines.
    I take sports very seriously so free weight facilities [especially squat racks] are essential.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Great find! Looks like it's got some great facilities and the pricing isnt too bad considering, especially since it'll be covered by the Uni's sports bursary if I get it. Thanks!

    I'm actually a member of the gym and use the manchester branch when I'm at home. They use to have a squat & bench rack however they removed it because the college of law downstairs from the gym complained about the noise :rolleyes:. So the Manchester thegym branch will not be what you are looking for. I still use them as all the gyms in London has them.

    Also try puregym (however not sure if they have parking facilities)

    Hasn't the uni got a gym?

    I was going to mention OSG or Sugdencentre also. Finding good gyms are a pain.

    Cant believe the reason they removed them! I was interested in it because it was open 24/7 and cheap but its too commercialised.

    They dont as far as I know, they have a few student deals at some gyms though, think the best sports facilities are at the cheshire campus because thats were the sports degrees are. Also my campus is separate from the main campus

    OSG is looking like the best option if I can get bursaries

    I know I was annoyed about it too. If I have to stay at home for a while after graduating I will denfnatley be switiching gyms as there is no way I will go to a gym with no weights
