Re: The Manchester United Thread IXThe Glazers took out massive loans to fund the purchase of Man Utd, which at that point was debt free. Since 2005 they've taken almost £500m out of the club to pay off interest and bond buy backs, yet we still have a debt of £420m.(Original post by Brainiac)
Could we get tiote?
Also can someone explain to me how the glaziers are running the club, why are we short on money? I have heard fans complaining but never had it explained to me, and was relatively young when they took over...
Amazingly, since the take over Man Utd has still won four league titles and the champions league, but that's all been down to the hard graft of Sir Alex. Imagine if we didn't have that debt? Since 2005 that's an extra £70m odd a year at our disposal! -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IX
Interesting article here, gives stats on the amount of injuries for each team this season. We were top of it with the most injuries, 39 major injuries and 1681 days lost to injuries. And the team that was bottom with the least amount of injuries all season...
Man City

Re: The Manchester United Thread IX
Really excited for Kagawa as are a lot of you on here... Definitely the most exciting signing for me in a long time.

Would love to get Nick Powell too and send him back out on loan plus another midfielder/striker depending on what formation Fergie is planning for the season ahead... -

http://www.teamtalk.com/news/2483/77...-of-the-crocksTbfh, having crocks like Owen on your books are going to inflate your figures.(Original post by Akkuz)
So..we lost players to injury for 1,681 days and City lost out on 186 days
And we still finished on the same number of points
But it was Michael Owen who was the player missing for the single longest spell for one injury with 193 days out with a thigh problem between November and May.
He alone was injured more days than all of City's squad but he wasn't exactly an important cog that was missing. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXEverything you are saying is true, but its also true for City and Hargreaves.(Original post by Zerforax)

Re: The Manchester United Thread IXThe single most significant injury for City was Nigel De Jong's ankle problem. That kept him out for 39 days in August and September with City's six other significant injuries involving Sergio Aguero (twice, groin in October, then foot in March-April), Aleksandar Kolarov (groin November to January), Vincent Kompany (calf, March), Joleon Lescott (groin, March-April) and Pablo Zabaleta (thigh, March).(Original post by DaveSmith99)
Everything you are saying is true, but its also true for City and Hargreaves.
Doesn't list Hargreaves in the 7.. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXLol, what about Vidic? He was gone for most of the season, isnt he an important cog? Your point is kind of irrelevent, even if you take out Owen we still had far more injuries than City and it did have a big effect on the title race you cant deny that.(Original post by Zerforax)

Does it have much impact at all?
"The US carmaker said Manchester United stood "head and shoulders" above other football teams."

Maybe United should spend more money on better physios or find less injury prone players.
I'll give Vidic but for example Fletcher's problems were known about so adequete cover should have been found and Ferdinand has been a crock for some time, which is why Utd have so much cover at CB.
Utd have had 'lots of injury problems' for a number of seasons now. At some point, it becomes no longer bad luck but systematic and a problem which should be addressed.
