Re: The Manchester United Thread IXBut you have just got La Ligas best non classico player for the same price(Original post by Zürich)
OK. Kagawa is a clearly a better player than Scweinsteiger, Reus, Gotze, Gomez, Lahm, Neuer, Ribery...
Even Hummels, Lewandowski, Schürrle, Mueller, Kroos are at roughly the same level.
Amazing that the Bundesliga's best player was allowed to leave for £12m

Ozil left the bundesliga for the same price
Sahin left £10m
Good players move for low prices all the time -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXLast season Kagawa was one of the best players in the bundesliga, is it really that hard to understand?(Original post by Zürich)
Someone said that he was unconditionally the 'Bundesliga's best player', which is clearly ludicrous -

Re: The Manchester United Thread IXNope, you're right. Kagawa is the best player to ever play in the bundesliga ever obviously.(Original post by Zürich)

Rafael starts for Brazil. Lucas on bench. Pity Fergie can't be at OT to persuade the lad to join us over the French oil merchants. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXJust wondering if you would care to inform about the amazing players who prefer or always play left side that Carzola over takes.(Original post by TheInvincibles14)
Although you could look at the situation at Arsenal in a different way. Bought Olivier Giroud, French international, scored seven-teen goals last season for Montpellier. Bought Lukas Podolski, 101 caps for Germany with fourty-four goals, scored eight-teen goals last season for Cologne (a team threatened by relegation). Bought Santi Cazorla, the best player in La Liga not playing for either Madrid or Barcelona, scored 9 goals last season, 8 of them outside the box. Forty-five caps for Spain, a team that has incredible depth in midfield. And now let's move on to RVP, he could easily sign a new contract after seeing this ambition.
You know.. he is so amazing he apparently is included with there amazing depth so I'm just wondering which left sided players who are so great he is pushing out? -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXI didn't say he pushed out any left sided players? Iniesta plays there with Mata as backup. He's versatile so has earnt all those caps playing in a variety of positions in midfield.(Original post by Tommyjw)

Re: The Manchester United Thread IXLol, please just **** off. Filling up the Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool threads with delusional posts and making Arsenal fans seem like dicks in the process(Original post by DenmansDinner)
Sceszny > De Gea
Sagna > Rafael
Vidic > Vermaelen
Koscielny > Jones
Evra > Gibbs
Oxlade > Nani
Song > Carrick
Cazorla > Scholes
Podolski > Young
Van Persie > Welbeck
Rooney > Giroud
Why have you compared Cazorla to Scholes? At least compare players in like for like positions, e.g. with Kagawa. I would probably say Cazorla > Kagawa atm, but in the long run Kagawa as he is 4 years younger.
And comparing Song to Carrick? Again, why didnt you compare Carrick to the person who plays the same role in the Arsenal team (Arteta)? Arteta vs Carrick is a tough one though, they are probably about even, Carrick may even slightly edge it. -

I think most team threads have a dick or two, thankfully in this one we seem to lack one currently, though we've had some in the past.
Personally, re Cazorla, he's a great signing - but the comparisons to Xavi/Iniesta/Cesc and so forth do not help.
Great points re positions and the slight differences. He also put Jones as a starting CB, when in fact he's not played there for us since Christmas, I think. Evans, Rio, and Smalling are ahead of Jones in our CB pecking order. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IX
Is it just me or are these Arsenal signings not actually that great
- Podolski never cut it really at Bayern and has never really proved his potential at club level.
- Giround is it? I've never even heard of this guy, not saying he's bad or is going to flop, but the way Arsenal fans are going on about him, it's like he's a direct replacement for RvP.
- Cazorla, yeah he's good and proven at both international and club level, but anyone remember when they signed Baptista and he flopped?
Arsenal fans need to calm down and wait until the season starts. No Wilshere until October as well. -

Re: The Manchester United Thread IX-Podolski just had a great season in a club that was relegated. His record at Bayern was sketchy but he was young and Bayern wasn't the right move for the guy. He's a fairly straightforward player so I'm quite optimistic about him. You certainly won't find a better firward around for £11m.(Original post by zKlown)

-Giroud is risky. But he turned down Bayern/Chelsea to play for Wenger and is a French international. Cautiously optimistic.
-So what are you saying? Because one loan player flopped, any top player that AFC sign is also going to flop? Cazorla is not guaranteed to be a success by any means but we can be optimistic considering his quality. He's certainly an improvement for AFC.
Think most Arsenal fans are realistic about our chances this season. We're 4th favorites at the bookies which is fair enough. Personally, I think we'll finish 3rd, above CFC, but probably won't be near City/Utd.Last edited by Zürich; 07-08-2012 at 23:07. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IX
Can't wait for the game against Barcelona later.
I think we're going to find it really tough though.
1) Vidic has just returned. We are hoping he (and Ferdinand) can stop Messi.
2) Valencia at right-back most likely. He will venture forwards and leave gaps, I fear.
3) I'm not confident in Scholes and Carrick being able to neutralise Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets. We need to do what Portugal did in the Euro's, stop them from playing; easier said than done.
4) Chicharito and Welbeck don't appear to be 'with it'. Against Barcelona, you must be clinical (Chelsea proved that).
5) Kagawa needs more time to gel, we can't expect him to rip a Barcelona defence open after a few weeks of training.
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea playing them. It's not as if we've scored bags of goals in the pre-season friendlies... We don't appear ready, unlike last season.
##For anyone who hasn't been watching the pre-season friendlies: ##
