Re: The Manchester United Thread IXObviously he would if there was no other choice, in terms of financials etc.(Original post by L18)
Don't see what LFCs actions have to do with the point I was making.
Do you think Ferguson would sell his best striker to Arsenal?
Would he ****. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXClub comes first. Fergie and the execs took umbrage with how the deal was being done moreso than who wanted to buy him. Liverpool magically knew of the release clause, did they? Pity his agent was an idiot who didn't realise it was to foreign clubs only.(Original post by L18)

Fergie has sold to Arsenal and Chelsea in the recent past. If the offer is good enough, best the club can do then that's all that matters. But Arsene is still living in the past - he thinks its 2004 or something, and honestly doesn't think of City as rivals. -

Liverpool are stuck in the 80s (even if they weren't born then) and Arsenal fans are stuck in 04 when they were "invincible"...
That's why Arsenal are City's feeder club -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IX
Long time since I've posted on this thread. Albeit I very rarely do post on this thread anyway. I've been reading some of the posts from that Arsenal fan that I think needs to be on some sort of leash.
I hope that Man Utd win the title this season and I hope we get further than the group stages in the Champions League because chances are we won't get a group as easy as last season.
And I would love to face Real Madrid in the Champions League
since the last time we played them was in 2002 was it? Facing them this season will be good since we'll be able play against Ronaldo for the first time since he left the club. I don't want us to face them AFTER the group stages since they'll kick us out of the competition but if you play and lose against them in the group stage it's fine as long as you win the rest of the games (which is obviously a lot easier said than done).
Kagawa is amazing. Very pleased to have him.

I love The Kag, just hope he can step up in the league. He's so enthusiastic. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXOur away kit is so much sexier than our home kit. [no homo](Original post by Mistersjmcg)
on another note, our away kit is SICK! I'm definitely buying my Kagawa away kit.
Although, have you seen Barcelona away and home kit? Amaaaaaazing! -
Haven't seen Barca's away but the home kit is awful. Looks like they just got spray paint and sprayed down the middle of it.(Original post by Manchester United)

Re: The Manchester United Thread IX
Transfers between the big clubs don't happen with the frequency they happen in Italy for example so a transfer involving RVP is not going to be easy. Wenger doesn't want to sell him to us due to the rivalry developed over the years and doesn't want SAF getting one over on him by luring one or THE player of his side. But Wenger's error has been that he inadvertently helped City win the title by flogging Nasri, Clichy etc, probably thinking they won't challenge for the title and they won it last year by GD.
But if we get RVP, then it seems Fergie will be placing his trust in Cleverley/Anderson to come good. The latter I'm not so sure he will, i.e that he probably won't be fit for the full season. Same could be said about the former but he had a decent Olympics and I want to see how he does in a full campaign because he is promising. But not bothered we missed out on targets, no point paying crazy money. Kagawa will be immense for us, no doubt. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXGlazers overvaluing the club just like everyone said they were then?(Original post by Tommyjw)
Shares not done as well as they had hoped -
No surprises there really.(Original post by Tommyjw)
Shares not done as well as they had hoped
According to the telegraph Gill is trying to push through the rvp move this weekend. Dunno if the telegraph is a good football source though.

Glazers overvaluing the club just like everyone said they were then?
But.

The offering process culminated this evening in the pricing of 16.67m shares at US$14, to value the club at US$2.3bn.
While at the below the US$16–$20 target, the valuation is higher than many had envisaged.
Instrumental to the outcome was a seven-year jersey contract that Manchester United signed with General Motors’ Chevrolet.
“The GM deal really increased confidence of investors to look further out in their valuation,” said one ECM banker close to the situation. “This is really a bet on the long-term value of the franchise, and the true value kicks in over time.”
The Glazer family collected US$116.6m on the sale of 8.33m shares, half of the total offering, and marked the remaining stake at $2.05bn. Malcolm Glazer, the family’s 84-year-old patriarch, purchased the club for £790m (US$1.2bn) in 2005. Lineal descendants, including his sons and club co-chairman Avram and Joel Glazer, will receive an additional 23m shares after 180 days. -
Re: The Manchester United Thread IXBy the looks of that they were overvaluing it, but not as much as people were saying. So its gone better than most people thought it would, but not as well as the Glazers thought it would.(Original post by Tommyjw)

Re: The Manchester United Thread IXPlease just ignore him. Best thing for all of us.(Original post by manchesterunited15)
What the **** are you on about? How are you 2 seasons without a trophy? 2012-2005 = 7, does it not?
Also I don't know how you worked out the "average of 4 or 5 years without a trophy" - please explain that to me. -

Juve coach banned for 10 months for match fixing, cannot see RvP wanting to go there, doesn't seem like City want him anymore. Its to us or another season at Arsenal.
