Re: The Manchester United thread IX
Don't know what you guys think but IMO it's time for Anderson to move on. We need to replace him with one of these bright young European midfielder's.
When on form he's a very useful player, but I don't think he'll reach his potential at United. He's the type of player that needs a long run in the team to keep consistent, and I don't think he'll have that chance at United next year. I suspect Cleverly will be given more chances next season alongside Carrick. Hopefully Fletcher and Scholes will be around too. Plus the emergence of Pogba..can't see Anderson getting into the team much. -
Re: The Manchester United thread IXThis season was meant to be his make or break for me, after starting off so well it was typical of him to get injured =.= I think we'll see him for another year and hopefully his injuries won't plague him again.(Original post by Akkuz)

Cleverley and Anderson started off brightly this season, we may see them same next. -
Re: The Manchester United thread IXNo. Balotelli's too busy porking the escort Rooney had a fling with a few years back.(Original post by SirMasterKey)
Wow...is that Balotelli in disguise or something?
Wouldn't surprise me. -

No. Balotelli's too busy porking the escort Rooney had a fling with a few years back. -
Re: The Manchester United thread IXat the same time as porking that escort.(Original post by Kevmeister)
And crashing his car.
The lad has a few screws loose tbh. Has shown some excellence in periods but he can be a big liability. He'll be off in the summer, tbh. Can't see Mancini putting up with him for much longer.
edit: the lad has screwed a few loose (women) tbh. Aha!Last edited by white_haired_wizard; 05-04-2012 at 18:44. -
Re: The Manchester United thread IXIts very close between Evans and Carrick for me.
Evans has been ever present throughout the season, and has proved extremely dependable with changing partners in that back line.
Carrick has been absolutely maginicent in dictating the tempo of games on a consistent basis, and I think the return of Scholes has made it easier to overlook his actual contribution in recent games. Class act -
Re: The Manchester United thread IXYeah the only role he has consistently performed in is in the most advanced role in a 3 man midfield. Like when he had Fletcher and Carrick behind him for one European campaign.(Original post by Kevmeister)
I think we should keep Ando, if only for Europe and squad depth in general - in a three man midfield he thrives, and as proven from this season's debacle we can't play 4-4-2 in Europe.
It's a 4-4-2, or its close variants like what we're playing now, where he has always struggled for consistency. If Rooney was out for a while Ando may actually be the best candiate to replace him, providing we shifted the wingers a bit higher up the pitch. Problem is it would be a very important role and it's a big call to give it to Anderson.
With Ando i'm in a position where i'm happy to keep him but if a target becomes available the fact we have Anderson shouldn't deter us from making an offer.
Bit early, but so far Rooney. Boring I know.
For someone who's one of our most important playmakers to have the scoring record he has is phenomenal. When he doesn't play or doesn't play well, eg Blackburn and Newcastle, we struggle. Saw it against Norwich too, just scraping a win. Been pretty consistent with his performances throughout, went through one goal drought I can remember but that was partly because he played some games in central midfield, and even then his play outside the penalty area was still good. With a player like Rooney judging him on goals alone is far too narrow.
Our current form players, i'm thinking Valencia, De Gea, Ferdinand, Evans, have been considerably better at the end of the season after not too special openings. A couple, the likes of Jones and Nani, started well but have faded. I can only think of 3 who have been excellent pretty much throughout all the games they've played, one is Scholes who missed the first half of the season, and I think Rooney has had a bigger influence than Carrick. And Carrick was struggling for his place at the start of the season anyway.
Still time to have my mind changed though.Last edited by Louis.; 05-04-2012 at 23:19. -
Re: The Manchester United thread IXRooney - has been extremely consistent with his scoring this season. I know people will say Valencia but he was struggling for his place until about the Wolves game in December - but since then he's been simply phenomenal.
Carrick and Evans are the other obvious candidates, but Rooney just edges it for me. -
Re: The Manchester United thread IX
Despite missing the first half Scholes has to be up there, our league record since his return says all you need to know.
Would be surprised to see any names that aren't Rooney, Valencia, Scholes, Carrick, Ferdinand or Evans. Think they've been our 6 standout players this season. (I've put them roughly in the order i'd go with too, Valencia/Scholes were almost impossible to choose between though)
De Gea and Welbeck deserve recognition for great breakthroughs, as does Jones to an extent. -
Re: The Manchester United thread IXValencia, if it wasnt for his injuries i think he would have been a shoe in for player of the year. Only playing 20 league games and being joint top assist. We're a different team with Valencia playing, if he played against Bilbao i'm sure the result would have been different.
