Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012I think the marks for this will be one for the equation then...(Original post by W4L1Y)
yea also 5b i wrote no lone pairs present so no repulsion?
3bp [1]
repel equally [1]
(if there are no lone paris I doubt they would give a mark for talking about lone pairs) -
Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012It was 88 Sr and 87 Rb, they put 88 Sr in there to confuzzle us and make mistakes.(Original post by AishaTara)
(g) Sr smaller than Rb
Increased nuclear charge/number of protons. Electrons added to the same energy level.
wasn't the questio something to do with Rb both isotopes

Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012Yep we get it after a few hours once everyone has sat the paper. I needed to do a mark scheme anyway as all my students will be asking me about it tomorrow...(Original post by theAAAgroup)
knocker how come you have the paper? do teachers get it? -
Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012That's unfortunate, did you not check that BCl does not equal 168.6?(Original post by W4L1Y)
ok wb the fuel one i wrote aromatic fuel and cant believe i got last 1 wrong knew how to do it thought it wont be that easy for 4 marks so got bcl at end :/ -
Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012Yeah, I did.(Original post by pjanoo)
oh gosh, did ANYONE put thermal cracking used in industry to make plastics? Please tell me someone did :/ -
Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012oh damn it! still wud be an A if thats right but so annoyed at the silly mistakes i made just by misreading(Original post by Zytex)

Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012I thought it was asking about two isotopes of Rb. I wrote some crap about it would be the same as theres the same number of protons and electrons so atomic radius wouldn't change, literally had about 2 minutes left of the exam, re-reading and realised it was Sr, had to get extra paper and quickly scribble something down :P I suck at not reading the question properly....(Original post by Zytex)

Yeah, I did.
that's a relief! thanks for your replies -
Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012Yep - that should get a mark too.(Original post by Millyshyn)
Yeah, I did. -
Re: AQA CHEM1: 15th May 2012Our teachers always say read the questions carefully. When it comes to past papers I do, but in the actual exam I don't read them in their entirety(Original post by AishaTara)
oh damn it! still wud be an A if thats right but so annoyed at the silly mistakes i made just by misreading
.
. The majority of people on the thread say it was more difficult than the January paper so if the grade boundaries are lower then it looks like I've got myself an A.
