yea also 5b i wrote no lone pairs present so no repulsion?
I think the marks for this will be one for the equation then...

    3bp [1]
    repel equally [1]

(if there are no lone paris I doubt they would give a mark for talking about lone pairs)

    (g) Sr smaller than Rb
Increased nuclear charge/number of protons. Electrons added to the same energy level.

wasn't the questio something to do with Rb both isotopes

If this unofficial mark scheme is fully correct I worked out that I got 65/70 . The majority of people on the thread say it was more difficult than the January paper so if the grade boundaries are lower then it looks like I've got myself an A.

It was 88 Sr and 87 Rb, they put 88 Sr in there to confuzzle us and make mistakes. .

I'm dreading getting CE on the bonding questions, I know they aren't the hardest questions but I seem to be very prone to saying the wrong word in those types of questions and losing all marks

knocker how come you have the paper? do teachers get it?
Yep we get it after a few hours once everyone has sat the paper. I needed to do a mark scheme anyway as all my students will be asking me about it tomorrow...

That's unfortunate, did you not check that BCl does not equal 168.6?

Did anyone else write that the structure of titanium was hexagonal close packed? I should have put metallic because it obviously is, but because it said it had a structure similar to magnesium I assumed it was wanting hexagonal close packed?

I thought it was asking about two isotopes of Rb. I wrote some crap about it would be the same as theres the same number of protons and electrons so atomic radius wouldn't change, literally had about 2 minutes left of the exam, re-reading and realised it was Sr, had to get extra paper and quickly scribble something down :P I suck at not reading the question properly....

Our teachers always say read the questions carefully. When it comes to past papers I do, but in the actual exam I don't read them in their entirety .
