There are no excuses *narrows eyes*

 if I had tried to revise the past two weeks, the results would have been amusing but not productive in any way
Done about 3-4 hours average so far, having a day off today

I will start revising next Tuesday, so that I have exactly one month to prepare.
I'm currently aiming to do 4 maths worksheets/textbook exercises a day until I go back to college next week - so that I will have recapped all of C3/C4 so far, and finish off the remaining chapters, after which I will begin to do past papers, aiming to do 2 a day.
I will also start trying to finish off Physics and geology before the rest of my class, so that I can start doing past papers for those earlier than would otherwise be possible.
Currently I'm at about 3 hours of work a day, spread out. (Damn you IPL cricket!) It'll probably rise to 4 hours ish a day after I return to college, including an hour in the library in frees.
A couple of weeks before the exams is when I'll start doing the 6/7 hours a day stuff.

Just one example, at our school we are expected to all get 95+ UMS...getting 5/6 A's at AS is expected. We actually need to do 6 hours revision during easter, just for 2-3 weeks to make sure we can get that.

I'd argue you don't need to do 6 hours a day (this early on) to get that kind of UMS, but I guess it depends on your methods of revision, and how well you remember things.

Is it just me who's never sat down and done hours upon hours?

Hell, I've never even done 30 minutes in one go.

Seriously some of you guys need to RELAX - especially those working towards GCSE examinations. Doing over 4 hours a day (and even then that's a bit much) when the exams are still so far away is not as effective as you might think - you will burn out a week or two before the exams and not be at your best when you really need to be. It happened to me with my first exams.

At A-Level it really depends on what subjects you took and how much you worked throughout the year but I can honestly say I never worked much more than 4 hours a day, and that was really just the 3 weeks leading up to the exams.

You can take or leave what I say - I'm not one of those people who says 'You don't have to work at all and you will still do fine' or 'GCSE's are EZ MODE!!' but I think some of the mentality on here is quite sad at a time in your lives where you really should enjoy yourselves. I got 5 A*'s and the rest A's at GCSE and A*A*AA at A Level so, while trying to retain some modesty, I think there is definitely some merit in what I say.

6
But with lots of breaks etc :woo:
With the amount of stuff I have to do/learn, about 8. Mocks next week- need to cover and understand the entire syllabus of each subject. That means doing 2 or chapters of chemistry a day with a single chapter of biology and maths. Sometimes its so much that there's not enough hours in the day :'(
I've probably done about one hour of revision so far in total.

I'm procrastinating pretty badly haha. I mean, that's why I'm here. I have my history book sitting right in front of me but I'm on TSR instead >_>

He is right though, depending on what subject of course.

I.e for Maths I just do a few past exam questions every couple of hours and then a full past paper when I can be arsed.

Only thing I need to do is, do them in timed conditions (nearer the time).

so dont you socialise with your mates or what :s-smilie:?

Edit: whats up with all the negs? you guys dont have friends or what :s ?

You have easily enough time to socialise if you are doing 7 hours work a day. It's all about time management...

...or what?

Same, doesn't help that I failed the first exam though (Psychology), are you doing AS?

Is that bad?

A2, but a trip to the pub always sounds more appealing than revising, especially as i'm not going uni.

I genuinely don't understand how people can do 7/8/9 hours a day with breaks...
I'm doing about 3-4 a day... I'll start to lose concentrate after so many hours though, so I feel like I'm not revising effectively. I'm trying to do more worthwhile things when I'm not revising though, like reading around the subject or re-reading my English literature books.

To the people stressing out - you have to remember that it's not about hours revised, it's more about how effective your revision is and how much you can actually get done in that time. Good luck

THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL. I'm doing around 3 per day, and i'm getting along fine. 8 hours a day is just unsustainable, as you wont be fully focused after around 4.

The old phrase "Quality not quantity" comes to mind...
