how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?
Discussion for A-Level students and for those choosing their A-Level subjects.

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise? That's the thing, the only exam I have before June is my Drama exam on May 31st, and I've already done that exam once so it's basically revisiting my old notes. Not much revision for English and Psychology I find easy but I will eventually get stuck in. I'd intended to do a fair bit this Easter and then ended up spending the weekend asleep, Monday and Tuesday in hospital and up until now half-asleep most of the time.(Original post by Pixxy_)
This.. except not psychology.
I have hardly done anything all Easter because I keep getting distracted. All my exams are in June though and I will just get stuck in next week. Calm down people. -
Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?
I done 5 hours on Monday and 6 on Tuesday, haven't done any the last 2 days cause I've been stuck in bed with a stomach bug! Feeling really guilty at the fact I haven't done anything in the last 2 days, I hate how exams take over your life like that! Just gotta stay motivated for the next 11 weeks then A-levels are over!

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?
I genuinely don't understand how people can do 7/8/9 hours a day with breaks...
I'm doing about 3-4 a day... I'll start to lose concentrate after so many hours though, so I feel like I'm not revising effectively. I'm trying to do more worthwhile things when I'm not revising though, like reading around the subject or re-reading my English literature books.
To the people stressing out - you have to remember that it's not about hours revised, it's more about how effective your revision is and how much you can actually get done in that time. Good luck

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?
I don't get why people are revising this early. I have 3 subjects. I cannot understand how you physically have enough work to do to be working hours every day from the Easter holidays. I normally start a couple of weeks before the exams and get it all done.

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?I find myself work to do. Once we've done work in class I'll make note cards on it. A few days later I make a spider diagram. A few days after that I type up all my work. Once I've done all this I do past paper questions, and if they go well - I have a rest and just re-read all my notes to keep it in my head. If not - I'll find out where I went wrong and re-do this section and try again. I can't understand how people can revise a couple of weeks before the exam! I started revising as soon as my January exams were over and I still feel behind on revision. I suppose what works for some people doesn't work for others, it's just a matter of finding what works best for you.(Original post by MisanthropicLemon)

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?Goodness me, that's a lot of work. You're right, it's all about what works for you. I know people that write reams of notes before they learn things but I can normally just read it and draw some diagrams if I'm struggling(Original post by jodiedoodles)

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?Your friends' idea of socialising.(Original post by GMD)
nope. I don't understand your obsession with everyone that does revision being a "social outcast"... some people have aspirations/good work ethic you know? And just perhaps, some people hang around with people that are like them? Most of my mates go to the same/similar school as me, so we're mostly the same, and we socialize quite a bit.
Just one example, at our school we are expected to all get 95+ UMS...getting 5/6 A's at AS is expected. We actually need to do 6 hours revision during easter, just for 2-3 weeks to make sure we can get that.
Yes if you want to get AAA at AS in Geography, Media Studies and Tourism you can probably get away with 20 mins revision, but it's not the same for everyone.
Finally, learn to read. I said I should be doing 8 hours, not that I actually am.

Sorry mate you ain't nice to people. -_-Last edited by iSoftie; 07-04-2012 at 13:12. -
Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?
8 hours a day is the maximum I see. How irrevocably low. I study 10 hours a day. Beat that.
Schedule:
8.00am-9.00am
9.00am-10.00am
10.30am-11.30am
12.00pm-1.00pm
1.30pm-2.30pm
3.00pm-4.00pm
4.30pm-5.30pm
6.00pm-7.00pm
7.30pm-8.30pm

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?*sniff* *sniff* Can smell someone is doing 24/7 revision atm...(Original post by cuckoo99)
lol but the exams are like 6/7 weeks away mate. chill out hahah an hour or 2 a day will do for now. i'd say 3 weeks before the exams is where you bring out the excessive revision hours e.g 4 hours a day along side the revision you will be doing at college in ur class and weekends doing about 5 hours.

Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?
I swear I'm starting on Monday...really. I have been preparing to revise for about 3 weeks, this is getting ridiculous.
I did a little experiment last week. I used a stopwatch, I tried revising for 5 hours, but every time I took a break or did something that wasn't revising(spinning on my spinny chair, making marker tattoos, playing with stationary) I would pause the stopwatch. It turned out I only did solid revising for 44 minutes.
I just have no motivation! I need to up my game if I want to get over 90% in each module. -

Since when was revision some kind of competition...?
And seriously...?
I'm hoping this is a joke. -
Re: how many hours a day over easter do you guys revise?I got no idea how you will need to revise 6-7 hours per day, there is really nothing in GCSEs. And for A-level in the last term of year 13 it is reasonable to do so.(Original post by brownieboy)
so as most of your guys like me dont have school due to easter holidays, how many hours a day realistically do you revise? also how many hours a day do you aim to revise?
im just curious as i see some people on this site who are doing theyre gcse's saying they revise like 6-7 hours a day lol
im doing my a levels in yr 13 and im doing maths, bio, chem and i only did 3~4 hours on monday.
got me kinda worried lol
For me there isn't time limit on revision, I just do 1 module on 1 subject each day, so I got like 11 modules exams so I am doing whole 1 module each day until I finish the module.
