Re: Concentration tips?
Urgh, same here. Even if I remove any source of distraction (laptop, phone, iPod etc.) I just end up daydreaming. Around exam period I gave up all fizzy drinks, ate a bit more healthily (still have a terrible diet but ate fruit where I'd normally pig out on chocolate and such
) and exercised more and it actually had a surprisingly good effect on my concentration. Could've been in my mind because that's the effect I was hoping it'd have or it could've been the lack of sugar rushes and come-downs but it worked :P shame I slipped back into my old ways after the Jan exams.

Re: Concentration tips?quick google of "modfinil" - seems to be a drug which makes you super productive? Really? I mean like it just seems non legit to use this but fair enough if your gonna do tell us how it went(Original post by Ayesha.Tabassam95)
I havent actually used it but Ive been thinking of using modfinil recently.. dont know if it actually works though
- did you get it via prescription? There's got to be some natural exercises.....

Re: Concentration tips? The first time I took it I felt like a machine, had the most productive day ever. The next time I took it, I had an exam and the exam seemed to go ok. I was a lot calmer. Modafinil also makes it much easier to concentrate on driving.(Original post by Ayesha.Tabassam95)

However, I stopped taking it because of the harmful side-effects like not being able to get to sleep till 3 am, headaches and heart palpitations.
Go to the library instead

Re: Concentration tips?
I like to make a revision plan. A realistic one though, with plenty of breaks, because I lose concentration so easily. I'll probably do a couple of hours..then an hours break, and so on. If you start early-on you won't have to cram everything in at the last minute. I've got a month until mine so am going to do a topic a day for the next couple of weeks, then repeat the cycle etc..

Re: Concentration tips? You have to get it prescribed or else its like 20 quid for 4 tablets. I honestly havent tried it or bought it yet cause Im too scared incase my parents bust me with it(Original post by coolstorybrother)

Re: Concentration tips?
I like to pace my room and ramble to myself about stuff in my exams.
I don't know why but it works.
Oh and for speaking exams either for English or foreign languages I sit in front of my bathroom mirror for 1-2 hours and talk to myself. At first my mum didn't know what I was doing and she was genuinely worried I was going insane (since I was doing this around 12-1sh in the morning (midnight)) -
Re: Concentration tips?Looool. I think youre side effects were cause you probably took them to often, no?(Original post by Blutooth)

blueberries, bananas, tuna sandwiches, exercise and short bursts of revision rather than hours at a time all help me to concentrate
also sometimes if i find my concentration getting a bit thin i put on some undistracting music and that can help me get it back a bit.

Re: Concentration tips? The side-effects weren't severe- just a bit disconcerting. I couldn't get to sleep till 3, only taking one tablet. Those things are prescribed for narcoleptics. I think the headaches were a result of just not being able to get to sleep on time.(Original post by Ayesha.Tabassam95)
Looool. I think youre side effects were cause you probably took them to often, no?
I haven't taken more than 10 tablets, and the longest stretch I was on them was 3 days= 3 tablets or less. Some days I took half a tablet. The side-effects are real even with minimal use, especially the lack of sleep and palpitations. Having said that, I don't think the drug is dangerous unless one really abuses it.Last edited by Blutooth; 03-04-2012 at 23:52. -
