Commuting to York
Ahoy fellow TSR's!
I'm potentially going to be starting the MA in Medieval Studies at York in September, after doing a BA in English at the University of Leicester, which I'll be finishing in June.
I currently live in Scarborough, and due to accommodation costs a potential option is to commute from Scarborough into York.
Does anyone have experience of doing this commute, or commuting a similar distance? How economically viable is it versus the cost of living in student accommodation? Does anyone, for that matter, have any experience of how frequently we need to be at King's Manor? The sad fact of the matter is that without finding ways to reduce my costs there's no way I'll be able to do this MA (I'm very sadly having to turn down an offer from UCL for my perfect course because I simply can't afford it without funding). -

Re: Commuting to YorkShould be doable, though you would be further away from the library. You could use the coastliner, which is quite cheap as you can get a monthly pass ect, as opposed to the train/car.

Re: Commuting to York
I'm in a similar situation. I live in Yarm and will be commuting next year whilst studying for my MA in Modern Literature. I can get a straight train from Yarm-York so it's not too much of an effort. I understand a lot of money will go on this commute but it will be significantly less than if I lived out at York.
I will be looking into some form of monthly rail pass or something.
