    Prospective/Future LSE Students: Please watch
Hi everyone. I just saw this video on the internet, and I thought the advice and experiences recalled in it would be so helpful to so many prospective Uni students, particularly those considering LSE. Sometimes its more reassuring to hear advice from an actual person than (occasionally trolling) anonymous TSR users. It's really long so here are some suggestions to watch:

The girl on the right went to LSE
    4:30-6:05
    21:17-21:45
    24:03-24:21

She talks about how she chose LSE for it's prestigious reputation over universities like UCL, which she in retrospect wishes she had gone to. Her main advice is to consider the social aspect of the University you choose - she went on the advice of people who told her LSE was the most highly respected, so she should go there regardless of its social side (I think she must have been a TSR user!).

I'm posting this because I often see threads asking about LSE's social environment, with others saying this should be disregarded in favour of it's reputation. Hopefully this will be of help to people out there. And if you feel you will fit in at LSE then by no means be put off, you may have a great time there - just be sure that you will fit in!

    Best of luck everyone

I expected the negs, posting it on the LSE forum and everything. Some people can get really defensive about their Uni. Doesn't bother me though.

Haven't finished it but the video doesn't explain anything new. Just says that it's not a social university. What is so special about the video? If you want the best chance at a career afterwards which she didn't its the perfect place.

I thought it would answer some people's questions about LSE's social side (which arise quite frequently) - just last week I can see there was a question about it. Like I said in my post, I think it's much more reassuring and trustworthy hearing advice coming from a former student, as opposed to faceless posters on TSR, many of whom are Sixth Formers.
I posted it in case it might help someone make their decision (or make a decision right for them). What's so bad about that?

And the reputation of a University isn't the be all and end all (especially when there are other Uni's with almost-as-good reputations) - another reason I posted the video, so that prospective students could hear this from a normal person, as on TSR there seem to be a lot of odd people who could care less about anything in their lives other than University and getting a successful career.

I have never understood this. It is absolutely irrelevant what uni you go to (unless it's somewhere absolutely desolate, which LSE isn't) University is/will be what you make of it regardless of other people's experiences

I don't think the point of the video was that LSE has a terrible social side and you will have a horrible time there, more that the girl did not make the right choice for herself, did not fit in at LSE, because she chose it merely for its reputation.

yeah lol, or another equally regarded "unsocial" hall

honestly if you cant have fun for 3 years in london at a university that has enough societies, sports and social activities, then you have no hope or probably just didnt make the effort...
anyone not choosing LSE because it has a poor social life is silly...

It is what you make of it: I was in LSE halls and had a great time but now live with 2 guys from UCL and a guy from KCL so I don't really feel like I've missed out on anything by going to LSE. I know plenty of people from universities all over London and I wouldn't say that the social side at any of them is worlds better than it is at LSE if you make a wee bit of effort.

So is it safe to assume that all the LSE chicks are hot?

I mean since the original assumption is that everyone has a terrible time based on this one person right?

If you actually read what I wrote you'll see that I said basically the opposite.

I could not agree with that LSE girl more. Like literally impossible for me to agree more. Friends visiting noticing, going to other unis, thinking it's your fault, relying on others because LSE is so lame, some good people here but mostly don't really connect with them, the really serious vibe....

They're obviously pretty normal girls so you can't really blame them (and everybody else) and say it's their fault for not having fun in central London. It's LSE's fault.

To be fair though I heard Roseberry are okay halls. Not great, but sort of normal halls if you went to a uni that wasn't so socially lame.

Why do you hold London on some pedestal? You do know the streets aren't paved with gold right?

Surely the simple solution is to go for intercollegiate halls instead of LSE accommodation?

yeah it would be, and a lot of the UoL halls are filled with UCL students so she could've got the best of both worlds with a little research if she really wanted to.
