    Highest paying jobs
    Hi guys,

I'm basically interested as to what the highest paying jobs are?
By this I mean realistic jobs (not singers, astronauts, presidents etc)

Is money the only thing that incentivises you?

If so, you can look forward to a relatively low paid job.

Do what you love and the money will come

I wouldn't base a career on the fact that it makes a lot of money

That depends on a million factors, a job is not one-size-fits-all for every company.

Some of the niche finance stuff like private equity and hedge funds, investment banking, partner at a big law firm, top barristers, doctors make quite a bit and have good pensions and job security, management consultants, top accountants, CEOs obviously, entrepeneur if you're good at it etc. etc.

    This features general jobs: http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2010...best-paid-jobs

    This is grad jobs: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/j...-pictures.html

    Why do you ask?

Just to clarify, I'm asking this question because I'm generally interested in salaries and careers. I already know what career path I want to go down.

Do you want to be a solicitor per chance?

In that case here is exactly how much top lawyers earn by firm: http://www.thelawyer.com/uk-200/Prof...equity-partner

As you can see remuneration ranges from Halliwells (they went bust) to mind boggling via staggering.

Law, finance, exec, successful entrepreneur. That is perhaps the most simplistic list

oil, working on the rigs you get paid a ****ing mint, i cant remember the exact figures but a basic rustabout gets paid something like 30k a year and they only work for half of it ... naturally it increases the higher up you get. my dad used to work as a senior mud engineer on the rigs off the coast of congo for schlumberger got paid something like £100k?
failing that IB, Law, accountant, entrpreneur etc. you can make good money through any job if you play your cards right for instance many builders i know earn a shed load of money.
oh and being a gypsy, if my biug fat gypo wedding is anything to go by theyre all rolling in it

Unless you're an academic, a fireman, a care worker, a nurse, a teacher... I'm not going to exhaust my keyboard going on.

Of course the better you do in your chosen field the more you'll earn, but in most cases the money doesn't increase all that much. If you're actually looking to earn serious money, you do need to narrow the field of jobs you're looking at to private sector jobs in things that require strong qualifications, long working hours and almost always don't involve doing anything nice for anyone but yourself, because any job that can be interpreted as having a positive impact on other people can get away with paying much less.

My old head was taking home 230k, I wouldn't sniff at that.

Agree with the second part though, the more rewarding it is the less you get paid in general.

That link seems hopelessly out of proportion. Since when is the average graduate salary 29k? Media average over 30k? Think not.
