I'm mainly applying for Medicine, but I will apply for Chemistry as my 5th option, probably Durham or UCL because they seemed keen to have me when I e-mailed them

Dr Dewi Lewis, he's the admissions tutor for chemistry.

Um, just out of curiosity, how did you get AAB predictions with BBCD at AS? Were you very close to the boundaries?

The man is even more amazing and bonkers in real life. I still have no idea why UCL interviewed then gave me an offer. I swear it was either due to already having work experience, my PS, or because if i'd firmed them, and subsequently went there, makes the uni look good.

Very close to the boundries in bio and chem, which were my B's. No idea how/ why I got predicted a B in general studies, dropped the D (maths). Promised to work my arse off AND resit both AS german papers to get the B in german. It's paid off since I need 65UMS in the A2 written paper to get that B, assuming i only got 120 on the AS written. I should have done a lot better than that, considering every single one of the AS past papers I did I got, or got damn near full UMS.

Ah, I see Another question, what was your reason for firming Sheffield rather than one of the others you got an offer from?

UEA, a pain to get to on the train from here. here to newark, newark to kings lynn, kings lynn to Norwich, then a bus.
UCL, the visit&interview day couldnt have been more badly organised, saw almost none of the department. Got insulted by my interviewer (You better not have a really thick northern accent, otherwise I wont be able to understand you. I hadn't even open my mouth.), and she couldnt have looked more bored in my interview.
York, offer was AAB, was always going to insurance MMU. If i'd firmed york and then got ABB, I'dve regretted not firming Sheffield instead, and I preferred Sheff over York.

    MChem
Warwick, Imperial, Durham, UCL or somewhere else.
    Hopefully 4A at AS
Hopefully 4A* 1A prediction for A2 (taking on further maths in a year)

Spent a week down in British Sugar (the worlds biggest sugar factory, and arranging more work experience)

Fellow chemists please do get in touch!

Nope. Neither is maths, for the majority of unis. The exceptions are Oxbridge and Imperial. If, like me you've done neither to A2, then you do end up doing some in first year.

Hey, I got 6A*s and 4A's in my GCSE's, I am currently studying : Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics (AS only). I want to study either Physical Natural Sciences or Chemistry. I've got Physics and Chemistry work experience placements, and I'm just sorting out my Nuffield Science Bursary, which will be in a Physical Chemistry department.

The universities that I am considering are: Cambridge and Durham. Not too sure about the others.

    Helloo,

Just a quick message to this years ucl chemistry freshers. I've just finished my degree; basically you need to buy 3 huge chemistry books (organic, inorganic and physical) ~ £120 from Waterstones. I will not be needing mine anymore and they are all in tip top condition so offering the bundle for £80. I know it's a little early to be thinking about things like this as you're probably still busy enjoying summer BUT If anyone's interested please let me know asap as they're clogging up space in my room.

I also have answer booklets for the end of chapter questions for physical and organic which were about £20 each so could work out a deal if you want these chucked in too (i found them invaluable during my degree).
