While I agree that nobody likes a Grammar Nazi, this is a forum for educated people. Standards need to be upheld. If you write a post of absolute drivel, with poor spelling and grammar to the extent that it's causing people difficulty to understand what you're trying to convey, it gets very frustrating. It's not like modern browsers don't have spell-checkers built in to them.
I normally correct my spelling because it comes up as red but no checks for grammar and punctuation and I doubt you really could write posts that people couldn't understand, with poor SPaG and how is TSR meant to accommodate less clever people, who would write even worse SPaG than me-I don't know

    :daydreaming: Imagine..
I am imagining ruined and burnt down TSR, filled with three character posts, smileys and people like our illustrious OP.

Alternatively I might just be bitter that I will never get one :emo:

I would also like SPaG to be brought up because I think it is annoying how many people keep correcting it and saying horrible things to people if they do SPaG mistakes-they aren't GCSE examiners.People want to be relaxed on forums and not have to constantly check their posts for SPaG mistakes like they are in an exam or are handing in a university dissertation.
    No.

People want to be relaxed on forums. This includes not having to focus their cognitive facilities to be able to understand what someone is attempting to say, just because said someone has decided that an unfiltered stream of consciousness is a reasonable way to communicate (it isn't).

English (as with all languages) has rules to aid readers in understanding. Ignoring these rules makes your post difficult to read and even more difficult to take seriously (although Profesh-style posts can also suffer from readability problems). A comprehensible middle ground is desirable and your posts do not qualify.

How do people not have time on their hands? It's the holidays, which means they should have 100% time, unless people are forced to do things by their parents:confused: Going out with your friends, doesn't equal no time on your hands by the way and I haven't got time on my hands-Why would someone write time on their hands?-joke
Everywhere is within walking distance if you have enough time :awesome:

Unnecessary abbreviation is definitely poor SPaG.

Spelling,Punctuation and Grammar is often abbreviated as SPaG I haven't just made it up my teacher has said"SPaG" and an internet link on the Edexcel website.

SPaG is abbreviated as such by GCSE English teachers and examiners. I don't think I've ever heard it outside of that context.
Hang on, wasn't it you who was complaining about people being too much like GCSE English examiners on here...?

On a completely different note, heavens only know why Edexcel think it's a good idea to fill 1/4 of my screen with a picture of a lass with headphones on.

    Cool story.

But seriously, the rules towards on spelling and grammar on TSR are pretty relaxed. All TSR asks is that you don't use text language (or other such annoyances but these are warned at the moderators discretion).

Sure, other users may call you out on your spelling and grammar but they have as much right to call you out on poor spelling as you have to contest that you want to spell things your way. If people are being spelling and/or grammar "nazis" about it, then let them know that you think of their grievances (provided it doesn't go off-topic). In most cases though, if someone is calling you out on spelling and grammar, then they're doing it for a reason - people can genuinely be fooled by something that is not spelt correctly - where is the harm in going about correctly spelling words on TSR? If anything, it's good practise, especially on a forum dedicated to education - exams/coursework will call you out on it, so will those that review your CV, so why not correct basic mistakes in the English language through the relatively harmless medium of TSR?

The user titles are quite unique, especially the 'vengeful, imperial overlord of the student room' one (who thinks of these things :awesome:)

But I was just wondering what suggestions you and your team have for future usertitles to come.

We didn't really talk about replacements as such, more along the lines of what's they're there for, would we miss them if they disappeared and if we did keep them, what we'd like them to be like (i.e. easy to unserstand, not geeky etc).

Would be interesting to hear peoples thoughts

I can't think of a forum that doesn't have usertitles, and by that I mean proper forum not subforums to a website like IMDB.
I think they are good and a bit of fun, as well as harmless. As long as the titles are decent.

Don't let them disappear  Though the custom usertitle of the sub would be even more soughtafter. But still.. :hmmm:

I quite like 'Agoraphobe', it's obviously not meant in any derogatory way and it's quite humorous. I reckon a few of them - like 'benevolent member' - don't really work. There could be a user who just trolls/flames with a title that implies he's well-meaning and kind just because of his post count, for example. Saying that, some of the default titles other forums have are a load of crap. I quite like having titles, I quite enjoy seeing them change as I hit so many posts, although that might just be me being a weirdo.

Seeing as this is a forum, I wouldn't object too strongly to slightly geeky titles. I'm fairly sure most of us have at least a little geek inside of us.

...Titles doesn't seem like a word now. I've used that word too many times here.
