I've firmed for Dietetics! Have you firmed or considering??Nice choice! (Not that I'm biased being a 1st Year Dietetics student)(Original post by freebee)
I've firmed for Dietetics too now!
What are you doing about moving and finding a place to live. I'm going to find a studio, or I wouldn't mind sharing with one other person. I have a cat too so I'm going to have to find somewhere that'll take him!
You guys won't be disappointed! I am loving uni life so far!
Again, if you have any questions - feel free and I will be most happy to procrastinate from my coursework

Re: Anyone 'firmed' surrey uni for september 2012 start??I need the same points as you do(Original post by L4Z0)
Oh, on the UCAS website it says its more.
http://www.ucas.com/students/ucas_ta...rifftables/#ib
35 is 501 points and a A is 120 points.
Which is slightly more than 4As and 1E right?
35, but I'm hoping for a 36 that would give me a scholarship! I wish I had done A levels xD good luck with your exams, hopefully we'll all meet in September

Re: Anyone 'firmed' surrey uni for september 2012 start??Loool. I just hope that I get let in with a lower mark. I probably will get something in between 30-35, there is no way that they would give me a scholarship! I wish I did A levels as well xD just wish that we all get the the points we need then hopefully we'll meet in September(Original post by KeelyEverywhere)

Where are you from?
Do you think they would accept us even if, let's say, we get a 33ish? -
Re: Anyone 'firmed' surrey uni for september 2012 start??Thats brilliant, sorry, I love anything to do with Italy(Original post by KeelyEverywhere)

I live in London in Greenwich.
Yeah my mum asked them if they would lower the grades or IB and they said that they would go a few points lower. If we get 30 we still might have a chance, but 32 would be something they would let us in with. -

I can't wait - though I'm just trying to motor on with acheiving the eye-watering 60 credits at distinction I need to get on my access course before I start getting too excited.
Can I ask you what the mix is on your course? at 32 I'm thinking I might be way the oldest on the course! I heard there aren't so many mature students at Surrey.
I'm so glad you recommend the course! The content looks really good, I'm glad there's no kitchens (been cooking since I was a kid don't need to learn it!) and I just fell in love with the campus surroundings. -
Re: Anyone 'firmed' surrey uni for september 2012 start??I'm sure you'll be fine and that all your hard work will pay off. Some people on my course who only just missed their offer still got a place, so there is always hope if not(Original post by freebee)

Age wise specifically on the Dietetics course, I'd say that its about half and half older(by older I'd say 28+ ish?) to younger students, so not that bad! There's a few people that have come back after realising they did the wrong degree or had kids etc. There's also a few people that took gap years like me, so are a teensy bit older too
Sorry I don't know specific ages, but I don't tend to ask
I know there's one person who has got to be at least 36.
There is a mature student's society I think, so there must be quite a few, so you won't be alone! The content in the first year is good, but I can't wait to get more specific! Unfortunately you don't get out of cooking, you have to do a few group meal modifications in your free time
I'm glad you like the uni! I love it

Re: Anyone 'firmed' surrey uni for september 2012 start??It was 21.6% last year, don't worry you won't feel like feel like a small minority.(Original post by freebee)
I heard there aren't so many mature students at Surrey.
MatSoc, the Mature Students Society, is fairly active, as active as in can be given most mature students have family/children/work commitments. So there is a community of people, but other students won't look down at you for being a mature student at all! -

I'm moving to Surrey with my boyfriend and my kitten!! But I think that we're going to look at living in Aldershot because it's a bit cheaper, and I'll just get the train into Guildford each day!
When are you moving from?? -

I'm ridiculously excited about going to Surrey!
I'm doing an Access and need my 60 distinctions which I think I'll be fine with but I'm doing my English GCSE and they want a B grade! Which I thought was a bit higher than they usually ask for!
Do you know of any people that were offered with a B but only achieved a C? (and still got accepted?!) -
Re: Anyone 'firmed' surrey uni for september 2012 start??Wow - if you get 60 distinctions and a B in GCSE English you deserve a place for sure!!!(Original post by serendipity1985)

You should be able to get a B in GCSE English- if you get a C and you get 60 distinctions they'd be pretty tight not to, seeing as it says C on the website.
We'll both do it I'm sure - fingers crossed for us -
Re: Anyone 'firmed' surrey uni for september 2012 start??I'm moving from (near) Purley. SO it's just the other side of Surrey.(Original post by serendipity1985)
Hey Freebee!
I'm moving to Surrey with my boyfriend and my kitten!! But I think that we're going to look at living in Aldershot because it's a bit cheaper, and I'll just get the train into Guildford each day!
When are you moving from??
My boyfriend is moving from Scotland too- he'll be moving to the area but not together just yet.
I think I'll live in Guildford or Woking, because I have to get into Wimbledon area for my part-time job- I'm a cycle trainer for Merton, so I'll still do that through the holidays and on Saturdays.
I might even live closer in and commute out to Guildford on the train.
Kitten sounds soooo cute!!! I got my cat as a kitten- my friend had one in the litter no-one wanted to take and I felt sorry for him, so I took him. Now he's a big fat longhaired, weighs more than twice what I did as a baby, eats me out of house and home and attacks my bf's feet at 3am whenever he stays. He's still coming to Guildford with me though.
I don't know how I'm going to move all my stuff! Trying not to think about it until the access course it done.Last edited by freebee; 21-04-2012 at 21:40. Reason: typo
