I live in Shropshire too and I'm (hopefully) starting uni in September in Cardiff. I plan to go home once or twice ish in the middle of the term and in the holidays. I think it will all depend on how I feel, my little sister is insisting I come home because she'll be a 'lonely child' (my brother goes to boarding school). So I think it will all depend on how I feel, Cardiff is and amazing city but I do love being in the countryside (I live on a farm) and I think I'll miss the fields and not having neighbours!

I'm at first year atm. in my first semester I came home for one weekend, as well as two orthodontist appointments (did a round trip in a day for these). This semester I came home for 5 days during a reading week and two orthodonist appointments (round trip again)

3-5 times each term, I live an hour from home and most of those times I go back for birthdays or to see visiting relatives. One of my flatmates can't go home until the holidays, and yet another goes home every single weekend because she gets too homesick. In the 6-7 months at Uni, she's spent one weekend in halls. Everyone is so varied in how often they go home.

At the end of each term, so three times a year...

About once mid term, and then at the end to go back to work.
If i was closer it probably be more because my friends that stayed at home are always arranging things.
but a 5 hour train journey is not worth the getting drunk at the end of it.

I live 200 miles away from home and I used to go home every month or so, but I might meet up with my Mum in London (half way between home and university) in between. Increasingly though I'm going home every week or every fortnight because I'm having trouble with noise in my halls of residence and as exams are approaching, I need to work in peace and I'm simply not getting that in my halls. So home it is.

    As little as physically possible.

I too moved from Shropshire to the city (in my case, Coventry), and now the quiet of the fields drives me round the twist. I love going for late night (or early morning, depending how you look at it) around the city, with the bright lights and the people... something pointless in Shropshire :p:

Whereabouts in Shropshire are you from? Is it one of the more rural areas or a more built up place like Shrewsbury or the middle of Telford?
I'm from Telford, so definitely one of the more built up places! Although, compared to where i'll be going, it's like the countryside really! :')
I think i'll want to go home onc a month if i can, as i'm in a relationship (which i've been in for 3 years), so me & my partner obviously want to see each other as much as study time/money allows us to!
