Re: When did you first play GTA?I see. That's why it is called Grand Theft Auto still today, although it has a marginally relation to an auto theft compared to at that time.(Original post by maturestudy)
Yeah, it was a top down view. You basically had to steal cars then ride around one of three cities (Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas) completing missions. -
Re: When did you first play GTA?No, there weren't.(Original post by Kallisto)
Was there three parts of GTA at that time? I'm surprise, really. Can you tell me the exactly names of these ones, please?
The original Grand Theft Auto was released in 1997 for PC (Dos and Windows), the Playstation and Game Boy Colour. Then there were two London expansion packs released in 1999 (for the PC only, obviously).
The Grand Theft Auto 2 was also released in 1999. It, like the original, was just a single game. It wasn't divided into parts.
So up until the begininng of 2001 there was only Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2. Two stand alone games.
Then GTA III was released in 2001 and it abandoned the "top down" aerial view. It was then followed by sequels and prequels (different parts if you like) such as San Andreas and Vice City, then the same with GTA IV. -
Re: When did you first play GTA?Playstation gamers got to experience London 1969 as well. Can't remember exactly how it was done, but I remember it involved switching discs around, so you still needed to have a copy of the GTA disc to play London 1969(Original post by River85)

Re: When did you first play GTA?Same. You know you can download GTA2 for free now from the Rockstar website? I've played through it about three times in the last years, haha. I loved the Elvis impersonators "uh-huh huh", and by "loved them" I mean ran them over in cars, haha.(Original post by Guitarded)
I played GTA 2 when I was 9. I couldn't get enough of the flame thrower kill frenzy.

Re: When did you first play GTA?I downloaded it not long ago but unfortunatly it was too fast. As in, a truck or coach would drive like a police car and a police car would just be completely uncontrollable, and meanwhile the actual police or gangs etc would drive stupidly fast so using slow vehicles meant I couldn't escape them(Original post by Einheri)

My brother found san andreas on my computer when he was like 5 :P i was 12 i think
Yeah, I was the same in that it wasn't my game. It the game of my childminder's son - who was about 5 or 6 year older than me? -
Re: When did you first play GTA?Look at the time and content of the post before lol(Original post by KJane)
GTA 3 when I was 8, my older brother (who was 12) let me play when at first I just wanted to drive around, then I would cause general destruction until actually playing the game.
