I think this is the right place to post this, if it's not then I'm very sorry. :P

Anyone on here count themselves as a singer/songwriter? I finish college in a few months with no uni to go off to, so getting a job and whatever but would like to go off and do more music based stuff at the same time. I've written a few songs in the past, but I don't seem to have found my own musical niche yet. If I'm honest, I'm an alright cover artist right now.

Anyone got any good tips for songwriting or finding your own sound? If important, I'm an acoustic guitarist, can play harmonica if need be. :P

Also, anyone got any tips for where to take my songs to? As in, how to get small scale gigs and things like that? I'd like to start small, as in cafés, a few pubs or things like that rather than clubs or bars because I don't think my music would really fit - being all acoustic and mellow.

    Cheers, guys.
