Sherlock
Black Books
Fawlty Towers
Downton Abbey
Blackadder

American TV:
The Big Bang Theory
House
Friends
Star Trek TOS
Due South

I think definantly friends would be number 1
1- The sopranos. So well made, absoutley love it.
2- Mad men
3- Breaking bad. I didn't find the last season as gripping as the first two though.
4- Peep show
5- Still game (It's a comedy about Scottish pensioners,
don't know if it was shown down south)

Honourable mentions to band of brothers, boardwalk empire, the Simpsons, the IT crowd, the inbetweeners, southpark, family guy and my so called life.
Sorry to be an a**, there's just so many good series!
