Re: What are the 5 greatest TV Series' of all time?
Dear god, anyone who lists The Walking Dead clearly has no idea about tv shows! I have watched every episode in the hope that it would get better but it certainly doesn't. The Wire, The Shield, Breaking Bad, The Soprano's, Deadwood and Justified absolutely completely and utterly wipe the floor with pretty much anything!

Not in any order
- Friends
- Two and a Half Men
- The Thick of It (Obviously only appreciated by UK audiences, but I believe it is vastly underrated)
- Band of Brothers
- Top Gear
Honourable mentions to Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, Have I Got News For You and Not Going Out.Last edited by Cannotbelieveit; 15-07-2012 at 12:35. -
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean other folk can't.(Original post by speedfour1990)

Re: What are the 5 greatest TV Series' of all time?well yeah, but since this is the '5 GREATEST shows of all time' and not 'your 5 favourite' then isn't the point to argue about it. And he's right, The Walking Dead is nothing special, and isn't even in the ten best shows on television now, let alone of all time. He's wrong about the others though mind, there are several series up to the quality of The Wire, Shield, Justified etc etc(Original post by JF1903)

I tried to do a top five and it's almost impossible, the only way I could bring myself to do it was with a few honorable mentions:
Best 5 (in no order)
1. The Wonder Years
One of my favourite episodes in which Wayne's best friend 'Wart' returns from Vietnam, in shock and unable to adjust to civilian life. I guess you probably have to watch Wayne being a complete ******* for almost 100 episodes to appreciate it. Absolutely amazing series, and a children's show.
2. Cosmos - Carl Sagan
Full documentary series available on youtube, episode 1:
3. The Simpsons
4. The World At War
5. The Body in Question - Dr Jonathan Miller
Full documentary series on youtube, part 1:
Honorable Mentions:
Seinfeld
The Wire
Hill St Blues
Mad Men
Civilisation - Kenneth Clark
Community
King of the Hill
Breaking Bad
The Blue Planet
Most of this stuff beat out classics like Blackadder and Fawlty Towers and Twin Peaks etc etc by the sheer quantity of quality episodes they made.Last edited by Mister Dead; 24-05-2012 at 01:24. -
Re: What are the 5 greatest TV Series' of all time?
Haven't given this nearly as much thought as I should've really so I've probably overlooked a host of classics and been too heavily influenced by nostalgia but.. off the top of my head..
Drama:
• 24
• Lost
• Bugs
• X Files
• Sharpe
Comedy:
• Spaced
• Blackadder
• Alan Partridge
• The Mighty Boosh
• Flight of the Conchords -
Re: What are the 5 greatest TV Series' of all time?
Lost (I don't care how bad you think it was, the many years of enjoyment talking to my dad and friends at school about what happened in episodes provided way more enjoyment than any ending could have)
Fringe (It is just too good!)
Boardwalk Empire (Although I am annoyed at what happened to Jimmy in the season finale)
24 (You knowz)
The Sopranos (You knowz)
Recently I have found both: Touch (Keifer Sutherland i.e. Jack from 24) and Awake (Guy is living in 2 universes where one his wife died and other his son died) to be awesome
Check them out!
