Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(Head's up. The 'rolling eyes' emoticon was directed only specifically to him being silly. The rest, to all those making sarky/ insulting remarks.(Original post by Yoo)
How, in any shape or form, was his comment 'sarky/insulting'? He stated he's looking forward to eating chocolate eggs... you really need to get some mental help if you get offended so easily by something so... normal

Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(Pretty sure there were like 200 million people alive on Earth in Jesus's time... so say the average person has two minor sicknesses/diseases at one time ranging from a common cold to depression, you're saying he was beaten 400 million times? Over the course of a day? That means he was beaten 5000 times a second... please explain to me how this is possible.(Original post by Okashira)
It's true, just as Jesus took our sins, He also took all of our sicknesses and diseases. That is why He was beaten so badly, each stripe or bruise He received, was Him taking on another person's aches and pains, sickness or disease. With each mock or insult He took, He also took on a person's guilt or depression. If only we would receive His righteousness and health in return. (Yet most retain these things onto their own body, only seeing Jesus' sacrifice as the forgiveness of their sins, and not also the taking of their sicknesses.
And how come I've had this bloody cough for three weeks now?! -
Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(The Son of Man must suffer and be killed. Jesus brought it on himself; he died for his own sins.(Original post by bulgy)
but jesus was innocent -
Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(So your answer to that poster is .... 'This doesn't really make any logical sense, we'll just say you can't understand God', nice get-out-of-jail-free card you have there(Original post by Okashira)
That's getting into another topic, but if you really looked into this, you will find that your thoughts concerning God are not logical. God is powerful beyond our wildest imagination, but He is not illogical. If you want to discuss more on these things, let's designate another topic for it.

Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(Out of interest, who are you refering to here?(Original post by Steevee)
That's all well and good, Jesus was pretty chill for most of his life, unlike some other religious figures we could mention. But why'd he have to jump on the 'Hate the gays, hate the promiscious, hate the pro-choice' bandwagon? He was shaping up so well. -
Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(VArious Biblical figures who waged wars, nearly killed their kids etc, and of course, old Mo'.(Original post by SaintSoldier)

Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(Oh you meant that sort of chill(Original post by Steevee)
VArious Biblical figures who waged wars, nearly killed their kids etc, and of course, old Mo'.
I thought you meant 'chill' as in didn't really suffer much pain/abuse, seeing as this thread is about that very topic. I thought you were going to talk about the religious leaders who have been persecuted the most. -
Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(Not in the detail of this post! Including me(Original post by animatine)
Since the UK is a Christian country traditionally, is there a person here who doesn't understand the meaning/significance of Easter?

Re: The Pain Jesus suffered :(A faith that requires you to accept responsibility for the murder of a man who died 2000 years ago is just sinister.(Original post by Christianlady)

1. Jesus, his mother Mary, his 12 apostles, and the early Christians are all Jewish (descendants of Israel/Jacob, son of Isaac, son of Abraham)
2. We all "killed" Jesus, everyone, not just the Jewish people... we all did, with the Roman soldiers being specifically those who did. Our sins are what hurt and killed him.
3. There are till this day Jewish believers in Jesus, as well as Gentiles by God's grace. (See Acts 10 and Acts 15, when the first Gentile believers "officially" believed in Jesus.) Jesus' suffering is NOT to motivate his followers to kill or hurt others NO, but rather Christians believe that because of Jesus' suffering and death, God forgives us of our sins through the blood Jesus shed once for all. Christians believe that Jesus' suffering and death fulfills the animal sacrifices God commanded the Israelites to do in from the time of Moses. (See the Torah) -

You want to take this thing down to a science.
It could be that one stripe or one blow to Jesus body, equaled a million or more people's sicknesses. As the Bible says that by one man's (Adam) disobedience, many were made sinners. Also by one Man's (Jesus) obedience, many will be made righteous.
The Bible said Jesus was marred more than any man ever was, so if we were keeping records (which I don't know if this is true everywhere, but here in America we love keeping records. We have records of who ate the most cupcakes in a day
) Jesus received the worst beating in the history of mankind. All of it was for our healing, but we must receive it, receive Him.
