Social life Exeter and accommodation
Is there a good social life at Exeter?
If you wanted to go into town/ to a nightclub would you need to get a bus? If so is there a student bus pass included with accommodation or something?
Any advice for accommodation? I will hopefully going to the business school -
Re: Social life Exeter and accommodation
I went down for a campus tour yesterday as I've firmed Exeter for this September
Someone who actually goes there will probably know better, but from what I saw the city is really near Streatham Campus. Depending where your accomodation is they said it's like a 15-20 minute walk. And there seemed to be a bus route as well which went between the campus and city centre, it was stagecoach so I assumed I'd just get a unirider or something unless there are any better alternatives
I can't really answer much on the social aspects but there seemed to be a fair amount to do. It's not a huge city but there were a few nightclubs and a lot of bars, etc. Hopefully a current student will see this thread and be able to answer your questions better (: -
Re: Social life Exeter and accommodationIf you look at this map in the bottom right hand corner (42-45 self catered and 34-36, 38 and 41 catered) those are closest to the business school(Original post by jess7678)

I don't think Exeter is the most night-clubby town but there seemed to be a few different places to go, also it seems quite a safe city so walking home would be alright

Re: Social life Exeter and accommodationI'm exactly the same, except after visiting I ruled out Birks Grange Village and Duryard. Maybe I'll see you around(Original post by jess7678)

Re: Social life Exeter and accommodation
Although Exeter doesn't have the best nightclubs in the world, you'd be surprised at how hard students at Exeter go out and party. Exeter has a vibrant social scene, and despite the fact that it is a small city, having a great night out is not uncommon if you go with the right people. For me, personally, the social scene at Exeter is perfect because the people you meet in clubs/pubs are mostly students so I feel very comfortable when I'm on a night out

Re: Social life Exeter and accommodation
There is lots of good bus routes in Exeter and good music scene, Mama stones, The phoenix and The cavern in Exeter always seem to have something going on, also the Uni campus have some gigs there I went to see Bowling for Soup at the Great Hall a few years ago it was pretty fun. Loads of places to go out for casual drinks and stuff my personal favourite is the 'Old firehouse' also a few nightclubs.

Re: Social life Exeter and accommodationOut of interest why did you rule those out?(Original post by 11flon)

Re: Social life Exeter and accommodationDidn't like the feel of Birks Grange, I think mainly because it was right next to the town houses and catered accomodation, so the self-catered felt a bit out of place (to me anyway, I'm sure people there would disagree(Original post by jess7678)

). Just thought Lafrowda had a more down-to-earth feel. Didn't get chance to see Duryard because it was a bit of a distance away, in the opposite direction to the city centre, so it was just the location that put me off really.

Re: Social life Exeter and accommodation
This thread is making me happy! You are the only people i've seen on this who are going to the business school, however i'm doing accountancy & leadership! I'm also thinking lafrowda as it is very close to the business school, and i've heard great things about it!
