Exeter does have a really good social life, I'm just finishing my 2nd year and love it, but I do prefer the cheap locals nights to the student nights, because students nights get so packed you cant move. So my best advice is to not be afraid to do locals nights too! Exeter is an amazing uni and you will all have an amazing time if you wanna ask any questions or anything then I'm happy to answer (I'm a maths student by the way)

    Hi EmilyRose,

Yep, the accommodation website goes live on the 16th April for 2012 firmers. Once you have firmed Exeter you should receive an Email a little while after, thanking you for accepting, and at the top of the attached letter is your Exeter reference number; it should be 9 numbers long and start with either a 5 or a 6. I used this number to register with the accommodation website and all of my details came up. All i have to do now is decide which accommodation to choose.

    Hope this helps

I'm trying to choose between Rowe House and Lafrowda for my accommodation, I am looking at en-suite. Can anyone offer me any advice?

Rowe House is older than Lafrowda, but the kitchens are identical and you get a double bed in Rowe House! (Biased? Of course not...!)

I'm so confused... Can first year undergraduates apply NOW, or does it start on the 16th? Seem to have been getting contradictory vibes. THANKS IN ADVANCE x

Does anyone know what the Birks Grange Village townhouses are like? Are there any pictures, and are all the townhouses bunched together or on top of each other?

This thread is making me happy! You are the only people i've seen on this who are going to the business school, however i'm doing accountancy & leadership! I'm also thinking lafrowda as it is very close to the business school, and i've heard great things about it!
Hi there are you staying in the ensuite or standard?

Just to put my opinion in, you are almost guaranteed an amazing social life if you apply to OLD Lafrowda. There is a significant difference between old and new Lafrowda... just saying.

Of course all the other accommodation blocks have a great social life too, but you really hit it hard in old Lafrowda. P.S. Most of my flat achieved a 2:1 in the first year and we never missed a Rococo's night

I've been a fresher last academic year and in terms of walking the city is only about 15-20 minutes and normally it only costs about £7 for 5 people to get into town via taxi. So that's not bad.

Nights out are varied. On Monday not much happens but there has been a move to change this with a new night being started at Timepiece (info here - http://www.facebook.com/events/474880612536291/), on Tuesday many students enjoy Cheesy Tuesday at Arena (info here - http://www.arenaclubbing.co.uk/exeter), on Wednesdays it is all about Timepiece again with the Athletics Union (AU), and finally Thursday is a night out at Original Sin's Rococos (http://www.clubrococo.co.uk/index.html) or join Fuzzy Logic at Arena.

Those are the most popular nights but Exeter has a lot more to offer. There's cocktail bars, lovely pubs and some other clubs. If you want to know more just send me a message!

I hope you enjoy your first year!

    Chris

Exeter is pretty small, but there are a few good night outs, if you are in to really hardcore clubbing, you might find it falls a bit short, but it's fun!

My halls were JOC on Sidwell street, and that was about 13 seconds away from arena, my house is slap bang in the middle of town and everything else was walkable, and free busses are sometimes provided.

there are a few clubs, some decent bars, pubs inc quizzes, a few gig venues, and even timepiece has a salsa night, so i'm sure you'll find something that suits.
