It depends, the Lion could ambush it in which case the Lion wins but if it was a strength battle then yeah the Gorilla wins because its strength is in the upper body where as a Lions is spread out. Also since the Gorilla has the same shape as a human they going to be perceived as stronger. Lions are larger then gorillas and swifter so i think the Lion would win but it would need to be careful not to get hurt. Also the fact is its unlikely you would encounter a Lion fighting a Gorilla since lion lives in the savannah and gorillas the jungle :P

The gorilla would give the lion a swift punch and its a KO. Perhaps a TKO where the gorilla grounds and pounds the lion till it can no longer fight back. Gorillas can also use submissions whereas the lion can't.

    Gorilla without a doubt.

    How about Gorilla vs Rhino?

    Rhino.

A gorilla could beat a lion because a lion's head isn't very well protected but rhino's definitely is imo.

Although I think a gorilla would win in a fight, lions are a much more successful animal.

Gorillas have stronger arms but lions have strong bites and are quicker to get away as long as hes careful the lion should win

The Romans were obsessed with these sorts of things. It is possible that such a fight may have already taken place. I know that of the Roman animal fights, bears tended to come out on top, but I'm not sure about gorillas. My money would be on a gorilla over the lion anyway, I remember seeing one dissected at an anatomy museum and thinking not only how massive they are but that they have a staggering muscle mass.

Btw guys, a gorilla has an incredible bite on it too.

I definitely vote gorilla, has the ability to hit and club, whilst maintaining it's balance, whereas a lion has to commit to a pounce if it wants to attack, which makes it vulnerable whilst it's in midair.

They've made bears and lions fight in the past. The bear won 9/10 because its punch would break the thin skull of the lion. I'm guessing the same could be said for a gorilla.

The fact that gorilla's are an endangered species and lion's aren't. Cat's in my opinion as a whole are a more successful species than primates (us being the exception).
