If you want to mod your car have a look for an owners club for your car, they are usually a great help and can give you some ideas. One thing that springs to mind is a sports exhaust, which will probably be cheaper than a replacement one from mitsubushi...
Cost wise how much would that be? Buying it and actually putting it on? I'm a 17 year old with this being his first car haha!

Well if your 17 on normal insurance then any "Performance" modifications would either cost you loads more on insurance or you just wouldn't get insured, I'm not sure what it would be like on the insurance you have.

A new full exhaust system will cost different amounts for different cars. I know for mine a catback exhaust would cost about £250 fitted (That's not counting how much extra I'd have to pay on insurance) so it could be similar for your car.

Other mods you could do would be better suspension, better brakes, rear anti-roll bar. It just depends how much money, time and skill (if you install them yourself) you have.

Yeh there online message boards like this but dedicated to your car. For example I have an Astra so I'm a member of an astra's owners club so I can get help and advice from people who know more than me about the car (which is probably most people)

Mine would be £900-1000 without the mods

How many years no claims do you have? Because My focus was £2100 to insure as my first car.

Ah, I live in Leeds (almost in the city centre) and go to uni in Cardiff (again almost in the city centre) on top of the fact I've written off a car my insurance isn't very nice to me

I think the cheapest way you'd make your car considerably faster is to buy the vr4 version of it, like this one http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3735345.htm

But they seemingly are very rare.

I've managed to write off 2 cars (a Seat Marbella 0.9 and a ford Fiesta 1.25) BUT that was because i was rallying them about in one of my dads fields. They were my everyday cars but they then failed there MOT so each time i simply replaced them and used them as field cars until they failed or i crashed them. I also have the benefit of not going uni after my a levels end this summer so i have more money to spend on what i want.

Whoops. I managed to roll the fiesta after trying to jump it in the field. My folks were out for the day i simply ran back to the farm, got one of the telelifters and flipped it upright. I then got one of our Transit vans, hooked up my dads car trailer (he competes in hillclimbing and sprinting and uses it to get his race car about) and winched the fiesta onto the trailer and took it to the scrapyard. A rather interesting way to spend a saturday afternoon it was ^_^

I live in the city, you all are so lucky! Got so much room to experiment.. the most I can do is do a wheelspin launch or a burnout or maybe even a few doughnuts and then running before I get caught!
