IB procrastination thread...
Hey all,
Just thought I'd start my (2nd ever!) thread - particularly aimed at IB students, but anyone else is free to post away!
As you guys probably know, our exams start, well, very soon...and I know in my small group of IB friends I'm not the only one who seems to be doing more procrastination than revision!
So far, I've done a LOT of psychology revision and some biology, and these are two SL subjects...the workload just seems to be a lot larger compared to French and English!
How are you fellow IBers getting on? Any worries/thoughts/fellow procrastinators out there?
Would be great to get a few IB-ers on here, just to keep us sane until exam time
Good luck everyone! -
Re: IB procrastination thread...
Near the end of the first year for me. I have SL Economics and French in May. I believe the people in the Southern Hemisphere have their exams in november.
In any case, FRENCH IS IMPOSSIBLE. I'm trying my hardest to learn it. I swear I'm just gonna spend my freaking 2 months memorizing the proverbs (May 22nd is the french SL exam D: ) and practicing grammar.
Economics shouldn't be as difficult but I won't get cocky. And while doing this, I still have to concentrate on HL math and HL English because these are the only two courses which need our 1st year marks for our predicted D:
And I have to start the EE D: -
Re: IB procrastination thread...
I'll admit - the first year is pretty stressful with the EE and getting enough CAS hours!
I have all of my real end-of-2nd-year exams starting in May, and don't feel tooo stressed yet...I have a feeling that will happen in the 2 weeks back at school before exams!
Bonne chance avec le francais...I do HL French and am hoping my oral exams will help my grade, but I'm just looking forward to finishing the exam on the 22nd May!
Good luck with everything, you'll be fine

Re: IB procrastination thread...
My French teacher is probably the biggest b*tch out there. She's so damn biased with her marking. I was getting all 5's and 6's throughout the semester and she predicts me at a 4.
And then, my friend and I were practicing with the French Head of Department and told me that I would get a 6 and my friend would get a 4 or 5. I went to the oral exam and I thought I did better than during practice.
And then I got marked a 4....

Re: IB procrastination thread...Haha...I've been doing what SEEMS like a lot of psychology (despite being only SL!!), but in reality I've only just got through the BLOA and a couple of SCLOA outcomes in about a week, on and off :'( why is this so tough?!(Original post by gonchanya)
has anyone else started revising for the final exams? i only started today... i feel like i am so behind haha
I've done some biology and maths too, but not really revised other subjects in depth...it's crazy how close the real exams are and when I think about how much I need to do, it just depresses me!
I make to-do lists rather than revision timetables - stresses me out less
-
Re: IB procrastination thread...
Nope, no redo on the orals. My French teacher hates me. On top of that, she's a new french teacher and I honestly think she is waaaay too tough with the marking.
The final problem is, we have about 200 or so students doing french, so even if the orals are moderated, only 2 kids from our class are being sent, and their marks are actually fair -______-
Anyways, I've decided to just improve my work ethics since I've been lazing through school the last 4-5 years D; -
Re: IB procrastination thread...hahah thats good actually, i should try the to-do lists thing! i never had revision time tables, my subjects are all essay based (history hl, english hl and psych hl) so i can never stay on time with them. i am sooo worried for the exams, i feel like i am completely failing my sl subjects :/(Original post by hanalicia)

Re: IB procrastination thread...
Bloodrazor: Haha, that like a good plan. And woah, 200 students?! My class was basically the first (guinea pig..) year to do the IB, and there's only 8 of us in the whole class, haha!
Gonchanya: Wow, that seems like a LOT of writing :/ I feel so sorry for my friends who do history, it sounds horrible to revise. And I'm not too worried about my bio which is SL as I have quite a few days free before that exam, it's just been the psych that I'm revising like crazy

Re: IB procrastination thread...
Hi! I was wondering if anyone took Bio SL?
I'm taking Bio SL right now in a mixed HL and SL class. As there are only 3 SL students, the teacher has decided to just teach the HL course to us. From the SL and HL outlines, I find there are many differences, thus I was wondering if there is a difference between SL and HL in each individual unit, or just the Plant life unit.
Thanks

Re: IB procrastination thread...If your school is anything like mine, it doesn't start getting really tough until March. Unless your school has totally not prepared you guys :P(Original post by mevidek)
I'm doing the IB after September... Looking forward to it but it seems really tough

Re: IB procrastination thread...Well it's been doing it for over a decade, and gets very good results, so I don't know really(Original post by Eddyward)

Re: IB procrastination thread...Then I'm sure you'll be fine! Just try and have good study habits early on. It may seem really easy from the start and you can procrastinate a lot. However, once you get to IA/test season, good study habits will help you tremendously.(Original post by mevidek)

Re: IB procrastination thread...Well, usually from March - June, that is when teachers will start handing out practice Internal Assessments in preparation for the actual Internal Assessments by the end of the semester. Do you enjoy doing the IB? Do you get time to socialise?
