just completed the fp1 textbook- there are 4 questions which i still cannot solve!

1. Prove by induction that ∑_(r=1)^n▒〖(5r^4+r^2 )=1/2〗 n^2 ( n+1)^2 (2n+1)

2. Prove that 11^(n+1) +12^^2n+1 is divisible by 133 for n≥0

3.∑_(k=0)^(n-1)▒〖x^k (1-x^n)/(1-x)〗 where (x cannot equal 1

4.The roots of the quartic equation x^4 +8x^3 =20x^2 +16x+4=0 are a, b, c, d

a)By making a suitable substitution,find a quartic equation with these roots.
A+2, b+2, c+2, d+2
b)Solve the equation found in part 1), and hence find the values of a, b, c, sd

there is a fully worked version of Q2 on Yahoo answers... just google "is divisible by 133 "

to find it.

oh thanks- its ok now- i asked a teacher today! it turns out i have problems with basic division 2/2 IS NOT 2!
