    Strathclyde Uni Distance Learning
Posted this a few days ago - kinda thinking it's not had a response because people hadn't seen it. Hopefully re-posting at as a new thread isn't a problem?

Any help greatfully appreciated, cheers, Mark....

    Hello all

New here so first question and all.

I've just applied to Strathclyde Uni to study their BEng(Hons)/MEng Chemical Engineering course by distance learning.

It says typical entry is through either a HNC or HND, since students start in the third year and take three years to do two years of study.

Does anyone here have any experience with the course, either as a full time, part time or DL student?

Also, can anyone give me a clue as to my chances of being accepted? I applied at the start of the week and should only have until next week end to wait to find out, but I'm in suspense; and not having any idea how my app will fare is doing my head in!

I went through the OPITO apprenticeship from 2002, so have a HNC in process control. Not a vast amount of engineering in there but it had a fair bit of mathematics to it. I have an NVQ3 in processing hydrocarbons. City & Guilds level 3 in petroleum processing technology. About 8 years proper working experience in offshore hydrocarbon production. And I have also completed all the level one modules for the Open Uni's generic BEng(Hons) Engineering degree.

    So...thoughts or anything appreciated??

    Re: Strathclyde Uni Distance Learning
    Thanks for the reply.

Good news with the application though - got an email yesterday with a conditional offer, based on my finishing & passing my current OU modules.

I've also been advised to study the C&G level 3 process chemistry unit offered at Teeside Uni before my studies.

Pretty bloody chuffed to tell the truth!

I got some excerpts of the material also in the email so I have an idea of where to concentrate my studies for the next few months before the first semester - pretty daunting stuff!
