I'm panicking about how much I'm thinking of taking
I have SO many clothes and I can't bare to leave the majority of them here, must be like at least 3 or 4 big suitcases worth, not including shoes and stuff
Then all the things I'll be taking on top of it
Don't think it'll fit in the car aha

Did you drive for the whole 500 miles or did you go on a plane for some of it.

I took almost everything I own and that basically meant the car had scarcely enough room for myself and the driver.

I took everything as my younger brother got my room so I wasn't leaving him anything to ruin!! It was 2 big suitcases and 1 slightly smaller one with clothes/shoes. A few boxes with books and other general crap you end up with over the years ha-ha.
We made 2 trips cos I live so close, stopped the car getting too packed so more people could come.

Going back for Easter after 5 weeks and I have 2 cases and a big box plus a few smaller bags

I had quite a bit when I moved into halls last year.

Suitcase with clothes, box full of kitchen stuff (pans, plates etc) laptop, printer, box with some textbooks/notes/folders/paper etc, box with toiletries, climbing stuff (rucksack, sleeping bag, helmet, rope etc...I knew what society I wanted to join!), bag of wellies/waterproofs etc (needed for my course), think I probably had a holdall with towels, bedding and so on in, pillow, duvet...think that's about it - it felt like loads carrying it up five flights of stairs in my halls!!

Tbh, most people had a similar amount - people who looked like they had less when they moved in had to go out and buy duvet/pillows/kitchen stuff. Like a lot of the international students brought just clothes etc with them - but then went shopping for lots of other stuff!! I then accumulated loads more whilst at uni - stuff I bought, but also brought stuff back with me when I went home! Took two car trips to move it all out to my house last summer.

4 medium sized suitcases I think, plus a big bag for life with my bedding in.

But don't you have to take it back after eight week? How much will I need for one term? :P

Three suitcases, a massive hiking rucksack and a million bags and boxes, filled up my dad's Fiesta with barely room to move. I know some girls who had to hire vans for their stuff!

Basically just filled a Nissan Micra with everything. It was probably 2 suitcases, two smaller bags and loads of random things that didn't fit in anywhere (like my big wok, china mugs, laptop, wellies...)

I filled up a transit van. I took a ridiculous amount of stuff to uni, but I have less crap than other people. Most of my stuff is associated with my hobbies, bike, guitar, hiking/camping/climbing gear, desktop PC instead of laptop...

Not at uni yet but I have a feeling i'll be taking about 2 big suitcases for my clothes alone and then about maybe 5 boxes for kitchen stuff and toiletries and such..

    Just finished uni!

When I first went to uni I think I took...

    2 suitcases of clothes
1 large plastic box of kitchen stuff plus a bag of overflow
A crate of random bits....toiletries, personal bits etc
A large cardboard box of bits....stationary, cuddly toys, as etc
    Printer in Its own box
Duvet plus pillow loose (pillows still in packaging)
    Rucksack with my electronics
Few more bits and bobs in bags
    One bag of shoes

I moved out 2 weeks ago from my house back home properly with literally 5 x that lol

I will most likely be moving to uni this September not sure where.
I have a suitcase I'm not sure it's big enough to hold that many clothes maybe 2 weeks worth.
How did any of you's manage on the plane? I might be limited with what I can bring or the size of suitcase. I've so much clothes to bring an shoes most of my room.
How big of a sized bag for uni would you need like for the lectures and for books?

Take what you need. I moved out of home a good few years before uni so I had to rent a van to take my gear and nobody batted an eyelid.

I packed my Dad's estate car completely full of boxes and things. When I left (3 years later), I had to hire a transit van.

Having said that, my friend who lived next door to me in 1st year halls had just abount nothing. One suitcase full of the absolute essentials, and he never really bought anything else. His room was immaculate.
I don't think there's a rule, and it really doesn't matter. Bring what you want, and what you are ABLE to manage. You will accumulate more things throughout the 3 years anyway.

Mine is a year abroad so I guess I will be packing a wee bit lighter as they provide all the kitchen stuff and bedding. I'm taking one large duffle bag and one smaller suitcase (+ my guitar(s) ) and I'm thinking of adding a weekend bag, like a mini duff bag because I know on the course we do weekends away...so if I'm bringing one I may as well put stuff in it :P

Edit : Actually reading that back over it doesn't sound like I packed lighter at all :P
