Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012I don't agree with the nannying either.(Original post by obi_adorno_kenobi)
But again that doesn't really address my confusion about the need to nanny people here. If you're daft enough to want to look like said love child then you deal with the consequences. Smokers who smoke and then get cancer deserve medical treatment but not necessarily sympathy. The same goes for those who abuse tanning booths - by all means treat them for the cancer they get but don't absolve them of their fool-hardy responsibility in the first place.
Again looking like an orange is from the self-applied crap not UV or professional spray tan. You should get one, may make your mood lighter

Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012I admire your copy and paste skills. As I stated below, this is a resubmission of a bill that is designed to save lives.(Original post by CyclopsRock)
Yes. Some time ago.
Please tell me what you have contributed yourself so far. It appears very easy for you to write banal, pseudo-intellectual critiques of parties or policy without offering anything of substance or value as an alternative. -
Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012
Okay, I looked up whether legislation on this exists or not.
Unmanned tanning is banned in Wales. It is legal in Scotland. It England, the relevant Secretary of State had the power to ban unmanned salons, although that's not the same as them actually being banned.

So, this bill isn't obsolete, it just does... very little. Still a good thing, though. -
Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012Urgh, today's mood hasn't been improved by sitting at my desk full up with the pollen from the bloody tree outside the office window and working a dead-end job despite holding a PhD. Not exactly the best way to lighten one's mood. A tan is the least of my concerns.

Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012I have no problem with people criticising this Bill - that's the job of the House. I may not like this, but I accept it. However, the government must also accept criticism of poor contributions.(Original post by toronto353)
Yet you refer to other people's Bills in a rather derogatory manner. If you'd have bothered to do a few minutes of research, you would have seen (as shown by others) that this piece of legislation irrelevant. If you don't like others referring to your work in a derogatory manner, then don't do so to other Bills. -
Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012But it is clinically proven that those with tans are generally more happy and likeable as a result*...(Original post by obi_adorno_kenobi)

Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012I was responding to Morgsie's suggestion that you worked hard on it. I'm sure you did.(Original post by Birchington)
I admire your copy and paste skills. As I stated below, this is a resubmission of a bill that is designed to save lives.
Critique of policy is rather the point of the house, is it not? Otherwise it's just a bunch of strangely worded OP's with no further posts. However, since you asked, I was the first person in this thread to actually explain what your bill was about (since you supplied no notes or data at all), I've written thought out and explained responses to every bill and motion offered thus far, as well as writing significant volumes in answer to the questions in the Liber thread. Please tell me what you have contributed yourself so far. It appears very easy for you to write banal, pseudo-intellectual critiques of parties or policy without offering anything of substance or value as an alternative.
I've written 6 or 7 bills in my time here, almost all of which passed. If I found some seconders, or suggested that the Libers re-submit them, would that class as me "contributing" in a greater way than I am right now?
Apparantly what I'm doing right now "appears easy". God knows what that makes your contribution, then.Last edited by CyclopsRock; 12-04-2012 at 00:30. -
Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012Well you're buggered if you're from Finland then aren't you! By the fact you put that in size 1, I'm assuming you possess none of them?(Original post by tehFrance)

Re: B424 - Unsupervised Tanning Shop Bill 2012I agree.(Original post by MacCuishy)
Awful formatting of Bills by the TSR Lib Dems probably affects more people than this bill actually intends to.
I would rep you, but it wont let me :P
Nay to this bill - can we have more serious bills going through? We should be getting lots of bills from each Department if we're to see a successful Parliament.Last edited by RoryS; 12-04-2012 at 11:43. -
