Which is the worst beer? Poll
So a question to anyone that filled in this poll:
The least favourite brands of beer as voted by this poll:
1. Fosters
2. Carling
3. Stella
4 Carlsberg
5. Budweiser
The top selling brands of draught lager in the UK in 2011:
(1) Stella Artois
(2) Foster’s
(3) Carling
(4) Carlsberg
(5) Budweiser
WTF is going on? Why are we all drinking beer we hate?
My theory: its a matter of a) cash - this stuff is often simply the cheapest by far, and b) availability - there is often simply no better lager offered in the pub we're in.
So why do you think we drink lager we don't really like? If there was a high quality option available for a similar price, for example tasty and highly rated craft brewed British Lagers like Freedom, Moravka and Cotswold, would you drink that instead?.Last edited by py0alb; 28-09-2012 at 10:08. -

Budweiser without a doubt. How anyone could vote for anything else is beyond me. -
Re: Which is the worst beer? PollBudweiser isn't really beer. They use rice to make it.(Original post by Ryan-Hetherington)
Haha, thought I'd be in the minority!
Plus they stole the name and then devoted their lives to bankrupting the original company. -
Re: Which is the worst beer? Poll
I find both Bud and Coors light unpleasantly sweet. It doesn't even taste like beer. If I had to choose a pint from that selection it would be a toss-up between the relatively inoffensive Carling and the ubiquitous Green King IPA. At least they vaguely remind me of beer.

Even if the above named are your ten favourite pints, there is still room for you. Even Fosters is better than drinking wine in the pub eh? -
Re: Which is the worst beer? PollBecause the whole company is rotten to the core.(Original post by mevidek)
Budweiser; how can they steal the name from the delicious Czech beer and stick it on a bottle of ****ty tasteless alcohol????? -
Re: Which is the worst beer? PollHere's a quote from Pete Brown:(Original post by walterwhite123)
Because the whole company is rotten to the core.
AB-Inbev do not like beer. Most people I have met personally who work for the corporation don't even drink it. I have argued with AB-Inbev marketers, trying to convince them that, if you want to make money from selling beer, you must recognise that it is not like other grocery products - that it has more romance, charm and mystery around it, that people take a greater degree of ownership in beer brands than they do in other product sectors. And those marketers have disagreed with me, stating categorically that they feel beer is no different from any other product and can be standardised and treated exactly the same. Stuart Macfarlane, CEO of AB-Inbev UK, has said that he works not for a brewer, but for an FMCG marketing company that happens to sell beer. It's a company that has an industry-wide reputation for being a ruthless cost cutter - after all, their relentless expansion has to be paid for somehow. The tragedy of Stella Artois is that it was once a special beer, and the last ten years have seen every single ounce of value stripped from that beer. AB-Inbev is also a company where, if you are an employee and you are seen drinking a beer from a different brewer - even on your own time, off the clock, when the company is not paying you - this can be, in the words of more than one former employee, "a career ending move." -

Re: Which is the worst beer? PollI don't think its possible to be a fan of beer and not be aghast at the work of AB-Inbev over the last 10 years.(Original post by walterwhite123)
That was from the book I read. He's not a fan is he? -
Re: Which is the worst beer? Poll
Castlemaine 4x was pretty disgusting. They spent millions advertising it as a rival to fosters... Don't even think i've seen anyone selling it recently.
I quite like a few of your despised real ales though generally at the ipa or light end of the spectrum with lots of hop action rather than the dark malty sludge types. -
Re: Which is the worst beer? Poll
I don't really like any beer or lager on its own (well known that I've tried), I'm not sure if i've tried all of the ones listed but fosters is the worst of the ones I have tasted. I'll have any beer or lager in a shandy but fosters needs to most lemonade in it to make it drinkable out of the ones I've tried. Thats why I voted for it.
