I'll drink Carlsberg if there's no option to have ale instead. I can safely say Carlsberg know how to make great beer though. I had some of their final batch from the Leeds brewery before it shut down - Joshua's Vintage commemorative beer. Bloody lovely. -

Carlsberg is absolutely foul. Tastes like muddy water a tramp's pissed in.
It's weak as well, so has absolutely no good qualities.
I literally can't drink it, it smells/tastes like dog farts.

Castlemaine 4x was pretty disgusting. They spent millions advertising it as a rival to fosters... Don't even think i've seen anyone selling it recently.

PollI absolutely love my local pub - its the kind of place where they don't mind you ordering takeaway or playing golf in the back room, and if you say "see ya" as you're walking out the door, literally everyone in the pub says "see ya" back - but the choice of beer is dreadful. I can choose between carlsberg, fosters or stella. I normally end up having one of each just because I can never face a 2nd of the one I just had.
I wonder how many of carlsberg's, foster's sales etc derive from desparation purely because the only choice is something even more foul.
If you interviewed drinkers, it wouldn't surprise me if >50% of carlsberg drinkers reported that they're only drinking it because the other options are worse. -

Local near me does Carling, Fosters or Stella. All are pretty rank but Fosters is by far the cheapest so i'll have that if i'm ever in there.
Surely they have an Ale, Stout or Cider? -

They have cider and John Smiths and Guinness, none of which are my cup of tea.
and this stuff sells, because you have to drink something.
Its a ****ing disgrace, the abysmal average quality of beer offered in one of the best beer producing nations in the world.
