Yeah, we had a lesson on P and S and she doesn't know anything about L waves so she's sent us off to research everything. Thing is, those lessons have been reserved especially for the article. And we're not really doing anything on them.

Thats tough.. im lucky and have the background knowledge thanks to my coursework! We're going to be going through the article properly doing practice questions etc after the holidays (one more week still, oh the perks of going to private school!)

It was her birthday today and we did some annotating and wrote down the topics that are involved. The physics department will be making a mock paper, using section A and B from an actual paper and writing section C for the article - once I've done it, I'll try to get it on here somehow.

Looks like I'll have to put revision on hold this week: today I was finally given my research piece back - and they've decided it's due in on Monday. The other two in my class got theirs back before the holiday. Annoyed, as it looks like I'll have to spend quite a while on improvements. Argh I hate coursework, so stressful.

Sounds fun.. well im still in holidays and not getting anywhere fast!.. procrastination at its all time best! We did our coursework ages ago.. they are really strict on us, one week in class, one week at home where we can ask questions, another week on our own.. though with the research we can always start it whenever, as we know what it is, with the practical stuff, we cant start early really! My teacher told me that my research piece was really good, so im happy about that! The other piece i don't have a clue, other than the fact that we were trying to talk our teacher into giving us good marks, and hopefully he will!

Yeah, we did ours a while ago so that we could focus on the exam now. They've only just finished marking it, and they've handed it back so that next week our coursework's all done. I'm hoping mine is - one teacher didn't understand it so she had to get the other one to mark it. So clearly I need to explain stuff a bit more. The courseworks get sent to the exam board so really it's better if your teachers mark slightly harshly. Ours were really critical with our marking but we all got A's with their marking - once the coursework had been moderated by OCR we'd all been marked up, and I ended up with 60/60 on mine

That's what mine will be doing - we don't have as many papers though - the ones we do have were made into a booklet, along with the specification and formula book.

I don't think all of ours get sent off, because he still has all the originals stashed away somewhere! He gives them to us to look at before we start the cw most times. I got 54/60 last year.. not the best but its okay for me really... im sure i lost the marks on the presentation one.. i suck at presenting stuff! Lol

Ooh, I quite enjoyed my presentation one, because I did mine on .22 rifles and got to talk about shooting. OK, then it went downhill because I had to talk about the physics behind it: 'steel is good because it is hard, tough and strong'.

Wow. My physics teachers hadn't even graduated by then I tend to do the old ones first - they're really useful for building understanding as they seem to go more in depth, and the section Cs are useful for the question style and they prepare you for questions you aren't expecting, because the articles you get will all be new to you.

I had to do something like that number for English Lit/Lang GCSEs alone, as well as more from Geography, Child Development, Food Tech (UGH.) and French. They could have worked out that exam board change a bit better!

Just finished off my coursework. A mere 8200 words, 40 pages, many diagrams, a lot of maths, several tables and 4 graphs later, I can finally start to concentrate on exam prep.

I wish I could say the same. I'll be getting my practical coursework back on Wednesday and I'll have to hand it in on the next Monday. Nope, had the presentation + questions on friday (same as your interview, we just have to present to the whole class). Went swimmingly, so hoping for 20 UMS on that one. That being said, I think my word count was perhaps just over 2000, by a couple of words, I'll just check. EDIT: It's 1981 words, excluding the subtitles of diagrams and references at the end.

Really hoping for a strong mark on the experiment piece, but a bit worried now that I missed some things out! Also feel like mine wasn't really that hard a task... Ah well, I'll have to wait and see.

Our school allocated the courseworks based on what they thought our strengths were and what difficulty suited us best. They're trying to get me onto full marks, so I'm hoping that there won't be too many amendments to make. I basically copied the formatting from my AS practical coursework, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Ooh, well done I doubt I'd get that, my fields, motors, transformers and generators knowledge is severely lacking.

Ah, I got free choice, so investigated the permeability of free space and the force on a current carrying wire.

Yeah, that's possibly my weakest area. However, the one on that paper was a doddle.

Would you say you're better at the calculations or the writing questions? I find the calculations are easily blaggable, even if you have no idea what's going on because you can just look at the units and guess what's going on from there. Whereas the writing questions need actual understanding and an idea of what they want you to say.

I just finished my first paper - from 2007, I believe. Not marked it yet so I'm hoping it went ok. There was one question I couldn't answer, it looked pretty G492ish. How did yours go?

67+ out of 70 on all 4 thus far, not fully marked the rest. Did them under timed conditions, but may have got distracted by House Still managing to finish them in the 1 hour 15 minutes that were allotted for those papers, but still, I don't want to let it be that tight in the real exam!

ive just started doing past papers - ive spent a while reviewing everything before i jump in and do past papers.. in terms of the advanced notice.. my teacher has prepared us well.. he even found the article, on which the prerelease is based, and has given us a load of questions that have come from another school (but im not sharing these sorry!)

You should totally PM them to us.

I'm scared for this exam, revision is helping though! Gone from an E to C/B by just practicing exams.
