Re: OCR music as
My performance went a bit rubbish too...
I can't believe the exam's on Monday!
How is your revision going? I'm making cards about the context of the pieces for Section C and tomorrow I'm going to cram my head full of the structure and keys of all the pieces.
I don't feel very ready for it though...

Re: OCR music as
haha yeah, SO much cramming going on right now!
yeah I'm pretty much doing what you're doing for revision. Colorful notes usually help
For the classical pieces- I'm just listening to them a million times while following the scores (we annotated them in class)
I'm just hoping for the best on Monday! -

I found these for Vivaldi and Beethoven reivision:

Re: OCR music asWe only done one full paper and we all finished 45minutes early. I failed but even the lad who got a B finished 45minutes early. The music exam is known for the generous time allowance. Good luck!(Original post by Short_Round)
Thanks for those links - really helpful!
I'm a bit worried about the time constraints in the exam, because our class has never done a full past paper - only the different sections separately. Have you done any? How is it for time?

Re: OCR music asI think the listening is the hardest part because you can't really revise for it - just make sure you know basic things like key signatures and chord labels etc.(Original post by annaliseelizabeth)
Has anyone got any tips for revising the listening part? I always only get about 6 right because we wasn't taught what to do just past papers. I never done GCSE so most people just went off that
Any sites or anything?

I've practised a bit by picking a random song in my iTunes library then trying to describe its texture and stuff.
Also, remember that we have 15 minutes listening time at the start of the exam, which I am going to use to answer (in my head :P) some of the listening questions so that the exam gets off to a flying start when we can start writing.

Re: OCR music asThe set works for OCR AS Music this year are:(Original post by annaliseelizabeth)
I'm not doing these pieces, I'm worried now? Is this for As or A2? Because i'm doing As
Vivaldi - Concerto in E minor for Bassoon and Orchestra, RV484 - First Movement
Haydn - Drum Roll Symphony No. 103 in E flat - Fourth Movement
Beethoven - Concerto in D for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 61 - First Movement
Louis Armstong and His Hot Five - Alligator Crawl (1927)
Charlie Parker - Ko-Ko (1945)
Gil Evans/Miles Davis - It Ain't Necessarily So (1958)
I hope you've been taught the right ones!

Re: OCR music asThese are for AS. What pieces are you doing? If you are doing Bach, Mozart and Schubert then you have been studying the wrong set works as the classical ones changed for this exam onwards.(Original post by annaliseelizabeth)

For June 2012 (until 2014 I think): Classical set works - Beethoven, Vivaldi and Haydn
Jazz set works - Charlie Parker (Koko), Louis Armstrong (Alligator Crawl), Gil Evans/Miles Davis (It Ain't Necessarily So) -

The bit I really struggle on it when it asks what chord it is, I can do the Bach well but I can't just randomly name chords or intervals. I'm really nervous now, heyho, what will be will be
