    Leeds Met Accomodation - Q+A
    Hey TSR.

I remember the process you're all going through right now, a year a go I was sat at my computer on TSR trying to find out about accommodation for hours.

I know that it's a bit late, but if anyone wants to ask me about anything regarding accommodation, I'm really bored at work and I know how much this would have helped me if it was available when I was looking.

I currently live in One Mill Street but have been to many other halls too. I also know a good amout about town/nights out if you need to know.

    Fire away!

    Scott x

Do a lot of people studying at Headingley stay at Opal 1/2? I am considering Leeds Met and would be studying Internaional Business and Spanish mostly at Headingley I believe.

How do you find it living in Leeds? I don't know the city well at all just visted once.

Living in Leeds is great, always an event or night out to attend to, caters to every genre of music nights.
To name a few clubs - Faversham, Hi-Fi, Wire, Cockpit, Space, Halo, Tiger Tiger, Mint, Gatecrasher, O2 Arena just off the top of my head. Any more info on those just ask

Every shop imaginable, from Primark to Harvey Nichols'
Pubs are amazing, name a few good ones, - Nation of Shopkeepers, Carpe Diem, -Weatherspoons and Yates usually have good deals.

    Casinos if that's your thing?

It's pretty big, you'll never be bored.

kirkstall is like a little community on its own, has its own pub which always has stuff going on, i really liked it up there my friend lived up there
its quite out from the city center , talking bus journey, i walked from kirkstall - opal the once... that was far enough, and opal is still about 10mins to city center not much i know but id had enough lol... handy because tis the only accomodation within walking distance of a proper supermarket!! (proper being full size, there is morrisons and smaller tescos and sainsburys in town, but kirkstall has a large morrisons which is much much nicer and full size! my self and my housemates drove to said morrisons across all 3 years )
i dont know much about the area around kirkstall because the halls are a community in themselves...

gah im a bit repetitive in that sorry!

    loads of people do
i lived opal 1, they tend to group people by course there i studied psychology and sociology and lived with 2 others on same course and 2 on variations (one sociology and criminology and one criminology), i know there were loads doing sports related course in opal and they were all up at Headingly chances are you would be placed with others doing similar course/at headingly also...
leeds met courses are based either at headingly or civic, so no need to worry about having to get between the two. i think they are still up at headingly as far as im aware... (i was 100% but now doubting myself because i used to bump into a friend doing business in rosebowl.... both rosebowl and :| the big rusty building (i cant remember the name of it but it was where i had 99% of my lectures 2nd n 3rd year... how stupid is that! gonna bug me...) were opened after i started there... and i know some things were moved about...)

i loved leeds! brilliant for shopping and nights out, always something going on somewhere, i finished uni last summer, and my plans are to get a job back up there asap

A lot of people from all accommodations go to Headingley, there is a bus from the city to Headingly Campus which is £1.50 for a day ticket. The bus is 28b.

Leeds is a great city, good nightlife, good shopping and plenty to do. I've not come across any trouble as of yet. It's a little confusing to find your way around at first but once you know where you're going it's a breeze.

I've not been up to kirkstall brewery but I've talked to people from there and they enjoy it. It's very near the superclub Evolution, but as I live quite far away from there, we only go for special occasions.

Good choice! We're right in the city, one of the closest. The gym is acceptable for what you need. No free weights but all the machines you need and trust me, students are a lot lazier than you think, the gym has usually 1-3 people in a day.

Opal is right in the city center so if you're at city campus, it's a good choice.

Finally made my decision and put Leeds Met down as my firm choice I'm just waiting for it to be processed so that I can do the accommodation but I have read on opalstudents that opal 1&2 are fully booked!
Does anyone know if this is the case because that was where I really wanted to live!
