Re: The most annoying views society holdsNah, ruled by sharia. Islamic state.(Original post by Iqbal007)
Islamic Republic
And I did also state that a proper Islamic state has a Caliphate didn't I.
On topic though: The worst things that have happened in history have been down to people trying to control others. As long as it doesn't affect me or anyone else in a negative way, people can do what they please! -
Re: The most annoying views society holdsAn Islamic state is one that adheres to Islam fully...................Having Sharia law is only one part of it, it's not Islamic if it doesn't follow all the rules, hence they don't have a Caliphate therefore their not an Islamic state.(Original post by Happydude)

- People who think gay marriages should be acceptable - I'm about to quote an esteemed, respectful and impartial man who shares the views of many. Pope Benedict XVI on gay marriages:
"Sexual differences cannot be dismissed as irrelevant to the definition of marriage,"
I'm not even a Roman Catholic nor am I religious for that matter, yet I still agree with his words of wisdom in that every child has the right to a mother and father but that is another debate altogether.
Besides, there's some strange logic in here and nothing that argues what the problem with gay marriage is. You've mentioned you believe every child has a right to a mother and father (which some may disagree with) but marriage does not equal children. I fail to see the connection. - People who think gay marriages should be acceptable - I'm about to quote an esteemed, respectful and impartial man who shares the views of many. Anti-multiculturalism. I do accept though that this is an opinion that can be legitimately backed up in some ways but it is normally just a socially acceptable way to profess ignorant/racist views and is quite contrary to my own personal opinion, so naturally it annoys me.
Also, the Pope is not impartial and should not be looked up to or respected. Fair enough you agree with him (op) about gay marriage, but I hope and suspect that you don't agree with him on pedophilia. Are his actions surrounding the child-abuse scandal respectful? I think not. -

Multiculturalism leads to divisions like what you see in Bradford, imo, while multiracialism doesn't. -
Re: The most annoying views society holds
just 2 things.
1. that being christian means you bible bash etc... - i am soo tired of atheists ranting on to me about there being no god: im not shoving my beliefs down your throat, so please dont shove your beliefs down mine either thanks
2. that men and women cant be friends, just friends. i am one of the guys, always been like that, and in a 2 year 10 month relationship. i have a guy best friend who is definately like a brother to me. there is no attraction whatsoever, but people seem to think that we are dating, of course, as we spend time together.

Re: The most annoying views society holdsFor the sake of civility and decorum, I implore you not to hijack my thread or turn it into a heated debate involving topics of your passion as I'm sure you are aware that there are threads designated for that. I'm simply asking for what views you find annoying so let's stick to that or else I'll be negging.

Re: The most annoying views society holds
I either strongly agreed or disagreed with your points, on the subject of gay marriage your views are rather restricted. Marriage doesn't belong to the Roman Catholic Church or any church for that matter, it may have used to but not anymore as indicated I think by the marriage of atheists.
Not the most annoying thing but one I've found of late:
The celebration of birthdays, my birthday is coming up now and I really cannot see the point. "Well done you've managed to survive for 18 years! Lets throw a massive ****ing party because your not dead." Seriously it should be up to the individual, I don't see it as this big event or turning point in my life, I don't really want to celebrate it I feel it takes away from the importance of celebrating as it's such a trivial thing. And yet my family has organised some massive party which I guarantee I will not enjoy, I will just try the whole time to avoid a bunch of relatives I don't like, it's just a farce!
