    Student finance evidence issue
    Hi folks,

I'm having a bit of a strange issue regarding my evidence for student finance. Firstly, I sent evidence of my parents divorce (photocopied decree) along with identity confirmation (birth certificate and appropriate countersigned declaration). However, on the website they have displayed that they have received my identity confirmation, but there is no update on the marital status evidence, which I thought was odd because I sent them both together.

The other problem is with the identity confirmation. On the website under the correspondence section, there is an image of a letter which they have supposedly sent me, saying that the identity declaration form was filled out wrong, and that they have sent it back with my birth certificate.

    But...

The letter I received today with my Birth certificate attached just confirms that they received my evidence and that someone would look at it within 10-15 working days.

This is kind of confusing and i'm quite worried about it, since the dead line is only a month and a half away, and I've heard some pretty bad stuff about the speed at which student finance handles things. Has anyone had this happen in the past or have any advice on what steps I should take?

    Thanks!

I had the same problem with my birth certificate the identity declaration form last year. The website says one thing but they still sent my birth certificate back separately and I received the identity declaration form again a few days later in the post saying to fill it in again. If you haven't received another form within a week or so, I'd give them a ring to see what's up.

As for the marital status evidence, they process that separately to birth certificate/identity confirmation. Last year there was a good few days between my evidence section being updated on the website and my parents' evidence being accepted (I also sent them off together). If they haven't sent that back within a few weeks (it took about a month for me this year) I'd ring them up

When you send the birth Certificate in to SFE it's looked at almost straight away. The decree absolute is looked at as part of the overall assesement which is why you'll find one thing is there before the other
