It can be done but i would strongly advise against it. The reasons for this are as follows:

    1) FP3 is a large module. Some of the content is fairly straightforward and other parts ar more challenging. But the fact remains that there is a large amount to cover. You have to remember lots of formulas that aren't in the booklet and given the time frame, you might be taking a risk if you want full marks.

    2) The integration can be tricky. Hyperbolic functions have similar rules to normal trigonometric functions but there are very subtle twists that can catch you out if you don't memorise them.

    3) The last two chapters (vectors and matrices) are one of the harder ones to self teach although after you learn it it's a simple mater of plugging in numbers into an equation.

I've only done 3 FP2 papers after doing both reviews and i got close to max marks on all of them. I think your plan will be fine but make sure you do as many complex number questions as you can (from past papers). The edexcel exams are generally easy but try some solomons/sarifs as they are harder.

S2 is very easy - probably easier than S1. 4 days is more than enough for it. Make sure you practice hypothesis testing though. There are a few tricks.
    Thanks for your advice.

I am on the chapter 8 of S1, so chapter 9, review exercise 2 and examination style paper are left. I will finish them in around 2 days.

I was thinking to use 10 days in preparing for S2, but if i finish it earlier then i will be able to put more time on FP3. I will try to find 15 days for it.

And do you know any good video links for FP3?

Will start revision for this after M4 exam is over... one half-term should be enough to go over the content. S4 and FP2 are on the same day, as are FP3 and M5.
Hi i'm in year 12 but it's interesting that you're doing m4 and m5. My school said it was going to offer m3 m4 and m5 to those who wanted to do it. I was the only one who wanted to but they are giving me NO help with it so i'm learning m3 outside with a tutor who doesn't teach m4 and m5 so i think i'm just gonna end up doing m3 next year instead of d1. But i really want to do m4 and m5!
Do you go to a sixth form college or private school because it's really rare for schools to offer m4 and m5.
and have you already done your m3...if so how was it?

My school only offers C1-4, FP1-3, S1-2, and M1-3. My teacher is teaching FP3 for the first time as it's never been offered at my school before. All the other modules I've had to do on my own (S3-4, D1-2, M4-5) unfortunately. My school is also too cheap to pay for my books so I had to buy them, but they were nice enough to pay for my exam entries. If you are worried about getting enough marks overall, do D1 (very easy to score a high mark if you are careful), but do M3 as it's seen as more 'valuable'.

Haven't done M3 (or M2) yet, doing them this Summer... I've started on M3 papers though.

i'm edexcel ... what are vectors in FP3 like and what are transformations of complex numbers like ? My teacher has left them till last because she said they are the hardest parts :/ please say she is wrong ... I can't even do M1 vectors

So you're doing 18 modules meaning you'll have 3 a levels in maths? What other subjects do you do because teaching yourself that many modules is pretty intense. I may consider self-teaching m4/m5; how are you finding it?

Yeah i'm most likely gonna do m3 instead of d1 because if i do both i'll have one module on its own which just looks weird...

It is not as hard as you might think! I'm doing chemistry and physics AS-levels this year, and might have to pick up another A-level next year if my school says I'm not doing enough work (if I had a choice I'd either do stats A-level or English Lit).

M4/M5 are not bad. M4 is harder because of the relative motion (it's hard to draw the picture for the questions).

You could do both M3 and D1 if you wanted. D1 is very easy to learn, it's like drawing pictures.

That sounds like a good plan. I prefer S2 to S1. It's much more interesting and there is no probability

My friend has livemaths and i borrowed his password and it was fantastic. But he changed it because apparently you can't have more than one computer logged in at the same time. I watched the vectors bit and i found it very useful. I would recommend buying it.

Vectors are extremely easy once you understand the concept. That's the hard bit. Complex numbers are a difficult topic overall. Get as much practice as you can and start them on your own if your teacher isn't taking the initiative. You still have plenty of time so don't worry.

Doesn't sound too bad but i'm quite lazy lol
Where are you getting the resources to self teach m4/m5?
Btw wtf?! - are you doing all these mechanics units in your AS year?!

I'm just using the textbooks. I had to go across London to find a library with the old M4/M5 books and took them out, and I downloaded the M4/M5 textbooks from online. I also have all of the past papers; that's enough resources for me!

Yes, I'm in Year 12, trying to do all 18 modules well enough to not have to do any re-sits. It is a gamble but I hope I can pull through.

18 modules in one year is absolutely ridiculous! Are you trolling?!
Plus if you finish maths in one year then you have a whole year without doing maths which Uni's don't like if you're applying for a math related course which you probably are

I'm doing STEP and some OU maths modules along with some other mathsy things such as running after-school sessions to help Year 12 and 13 further maths students next year.

I'm not trolling. My GF likes to make dares for me to do to help motivate me as she understands that it can be tough at times for me. She's very into S&M so she might say something like "I'll mark your paper and if you don't get an A I'm going to whip you". Needless to say, it works.

Overall which one is harder, FP2 or FP3?

I don't have much problems with the complex number chapter, although the review exercise contains many difficult complex number questions but i will be surprised if they come up in the exam.

Are FP3 vector and matrices more difficult than FP2 complex numbers?

Can we buy livemaths for a month?
Because buying it for 3 months won't be useful for me.

Yeah i couldn't do a few of them in the review. I hope we won't get a killer question.

Vectors and matrices are very easy. The hard part is understanding it. The matrices chapter is very logical and leads on nicely from FP1. But when i first did vectors i was stumped. After watching a few videos and grinding through it, it suddenly became simple.

Unfortunately i don't need it anymore nor can i afford it. I would strongly recommend buying it though as it seemed very good. The only thing i noticed was that the explanations were slow. Otherwise it's great.

That's what they all say! We are looking to get another person involved, too. PM me if you're interested.

Anyone done any FP3 papers yet? I just did some M2 and D1 this morning.

Yeah i did one yesterday. It's basically integration, vectors and matrices. I wish there were more papers though. There are only three edexcel ones.

The questions from the previous specification are much the same though. Has your teacher got access to the old papers?

Yeah but the legacy papers are arranged in different modules which is a pain. I do have other papers and resources like Solomons but they are much harder than normal papers. I got something like 48/75 on my first one and 69/75 on an actual exam paper.
