Nice Link solutions to first page for reference?

You know how it asked for AN eigenvector, I put (0,0,0) as z=z and it could be that z=0. Like it could be anything in the form (0,0,k). Am I wrong?
See the definition of an eigenvector.

Though where is a constant represents an identity so you can't write even if the eigenvector formed wasn't a zero vector. i.e. gives but is an identity so you can't say that

Just so you know, the way you quote people means it doesn't show on Who Quoted Me

I think I am right in saying an eigenvector is not zero by definition.
You are right

I think i did sth stupid for q1. For finding a directrix i got right value but i wrote d= instead of x=

do you think i might lose marks for that?
4. Oh for ****s sake I didn't even write x= I just wrote directrix :

I was the only person to end up with , not sure how i did it but it's still right

Will it be higher than last years?

Solutions to FP3 June 2012. Please tell me if there are any errors!
I think the last part of Q8 is ment to be in vector form: (r-a) x d =0

Will it be higher than last years?
Id say grade boundries will be lower, there were a few tricky questions, even though the integration was straight forward.

My answer is in vector form.

The question doesn't specifies the vector form for so surely it can be written in any vector form.

Though i gave the answer in both vector forms.

My answer is in vector form.
Your answer is in parametric form since landa is a parameter. I though vector form ment using cross product : (r-a) x d =0

Look at FP3 June 2011, Question 7c. They are both vector forms.

hello everybody!

On question 5b, i originally did all the working out and reached the answer that seems to be what everyone else got. however, doubt crept in so i crossed everything for 5b out. i couldn't think of another way to do it so i thought what the hell, i'll just write 2^1/2ln(2*2^1/2+3)-1 down.
this turned out to be what seems like the correct answer.

how many marks am i looking at, if any (raw answer with no working)?

Was your working correct? If so, I think they'd see that you've crossed it out by accident and you'll be fine.

Having seen the mark schemes:

For the FP3 locus question you had to mention .
For the FP2 circle question, it's not clear if you had to draw it through the origin.

Can't be sure but by the look of it, i think we had to show that it passes through the orgin. Though i didn't did it, did you do it?

On second read, there are two statements there. The circle must pass through the origin and the centre must be in the correct quadrant.

I didn't.

How have you seen the mark scheme, is it online? And what did it say regarding the half line?
