Re: The Edexcel FP2 (22/06/12 - PM) and FP3 (25/06/12 - PM) Revision ThreadSee the definition of an eigenvector.(Original post by Omar1994)
You know how it asked for AN eigenvector, I put (0,0,0) as z=z and it could be that z=0. Like it could be anything in the form (0,0,k). Am I wrong?

Though
where
is a constant represents an identity so you can't write
even if the eigenvector formed wasn't a zero vector. i.e.
gives
but
is an identity so you can't say that
You are right(Original post by Groat)
Just so you know, the way you quote people means it doesn't show on Who Quoted Me
I think I am right in saying an eigenvector is not zero by definition.

Solutions to FP3 June 2012. Please tell me if there are any errors!
Id say grade boundries will be lower, there were a few tricky questions, even though the integration was straight forward.(Original post by Grevade)
So, what are your grade boundary predictions?
Will it be higher than last years?Last edited by mazboy008; 29-06-2012 at 12:04. -

I think the last part of Q8 is ment to be in vector form: (r-a) x d =0
so surely it can be written in any vector form.
Though i gave the answer in both vector forms. -
Re: The Edexcel FP2 (22/06/12 - PM) and FP3 (25/06/12 - PM) Revision ThreadYour answer is in parametric form since landa is a parameter. I though vector form ment using cross product : (r-a) x d =0(Original post by Groat)

Re: The Edexcel FP2 (22/06/12 - PM) and FP3 (25/06/12 - PM) Revision ThreadLook at FP3 June 2011, Question 7c. They are both vector forms.(Original post by mazboy008)

hello everybody!
On question 5b, i originally did all the working out and reached the answer that seems to be what everyone else got. however, doubt crept in so i crossed everything for 5b out. i couldn't think of another way to do it so i thought what the hell, i'll just write 2^1/2ln(2*2^1/2+3)-1 down.
this turned out to be what seems like the correct answer.
how many marks am i looking at, if any (raw answer with no working)? -
Re: The Edexcel FP2 (22/06/12 - PM) and FP3 (25/06/12 - PM) Revision ThreadWas your working correct? If so, I think they'd see that you've crossed it out by accident and you'll be fine.(Original post by Ihatemathsexams)

Re: The Edexcel FP2 (22/06/12 - PM) and FP3 (25/06/12 - PM) Revision ThreadCan't be sure but by the look of it, i think we had to show that it passes through the orgin. Though i didn't did it, did you do it?(Original post by Groat)
Having seen the mark schemes:
For the FP3 locus question you had to mention
.
For the FP2 circle question, it's not clear if you had to draw it through the origin. -
Re: The Edexcel FP2 (22/06/12 - PM) and FP3 (25/06/12 - PM) Revision ThreadOn second read, there are two statements there. The circle must pass through the origin and the centre must be in the correct quadrant.(Original post by raheem94)
