Re: AQA Philosophy may exams
I stupidly got confused for part b of reason and experience,
I essentially compared empiricism and the idea of innate knowledge giving all the arguments for and against these views, I managed to get Plato and the world of forms bit in as well as kants view on our conceptual schemes, that we have synthetic apriori knlowedge etc however this bit was very brief, do anyone know if it is still possible to get a good grade having done this?
Also what did people put for the idea of god section ?
Thanks -

Is this for AS or A2? (Please say AS) -
Re: AQA Philosophy may exams
For the exam on the 23rd I am doing The Value Of Art and Knowledge Of The External World. I managed to get an A for Unit 1 in January, and by the sound of it I guess you guys didn't do Unit 1 in January? (I am a first year)
I just need help with how to structure the essays for 30 marks. I got an A without using a standpoint to argue for and against critique, as well as the fact that I used few illustrations. Can someone please give me advice with using standpoints? Would be much appreciated! -
Re: AQA Philosophy may examsI think they'll definitely credit it(Original post by Saima12345)
Yeah that sounds fine on Why should I be moral for part a and b. They're more leniant if you're writing style was slightly worse, as the exam pressure. I accidently put social contract instead of Kant for part b, do you think they might credit it? annoying mistake! As i knew the information for Kant well, and I could have done a good relevant essay! Would have contrasted with virtue ethics in the end.
I know others who wrote about Hobbes too and I think it'll be very much about how you develop the question through the theory you chose as opposed to which one it is. What did you write for the morality 15 mark question?

Re: AQA Philosophy may examsAyer's verification principle which stated that a proposition is meaningless unless it is either analystic or has empirical evidence behind it(Original post by dongonaeatu)

Re: AQA Philosophy may examsWill they? Do you remember what the 30mark morality qs was? Can't remember the exact words, and when my philosophy class came out, and we were discussing it , and people said Kant I assumed social contract wouldn't be credited. Will be so happy if it is cos I really want to do well!(Original post by lisa_)

For the 30 mark morality question, that was the two criticisms. First I briefly explained what the social contract was and the philosophers involved. My 1st criticism was about the people making the contract, they'll make it advantageuos to them and exploit the weak, so It won't be fair for children, disabled, what about animals , environment etc. The second was that the state of nature in the social contract is a hypothetical theory that isn't prove which undermines the contract, and how Locke said people closest to living like that hunted and worked together, and that humans are innately social on the ocntrary, and we have to be to understand the social contract. The two arguments ran down those lines... What did you write for the conceptual schemes one? Worst topic in reason and experience! Forgot to mention condillac's statue.

Re: AQA Philosophy may examshey(Original post by Hypedupturtle)
You'll get it. Keep a cool head, look at the question and consider everything you've learned.
A good tip if you have problem with timings is to answer the 30 mark questions first.
Enjoy it!
Best of luck to you all.
Haha if you're stressing, watch this - it seems to have a very calming influence:

Re: AQA Philosophy may examshey i put something to do with the social contract theory and how we dont explicitly give our consent(Original post by Saima12345)

I probably wouldn't have paid conceptual schemes much revision time if it werent for panicking when reading the suspicions of them coming up!
I'm doing God and the World and Tolerance in the next one. What about you? -
