    Need some advice
    Hey,

I consider myself to be 'skinny-fat'. I'm 6ft and weigh 63kg (138lb). I will be hitting the gym in 2 weeks or so. Got some questions that I'd love to get answered:

    • I will be bulking, but should I reduce my body fat first? I haven't measured it but it is relatively high.
    • Can someone give me a sort of beginner HIIT program? Also, could you do something like Stronglift 5x5 along with your HIIT in one session? Or would that leave you completely exhausted?
    • Is it easier to gain weight/muscle if there is less muscle to start with? E.g. in my case, my chest is very, very weak but I'd say my arms are average. Will I be gaining muscle easier around my chest or does it not matter?

Thanks for any help, and apologies for anything in my post that sounds stupid, I am a complete noob.

6ft and 63kg...damn dude, that's skinny as anything! For me to reach that weight I would have to be at 0% bodyfat and lose some muscle mass to boot!

Bulking is the right way to go and you seem to pretty pretty clued up on the matter. I do stronglifts myself and can vouch for it's effectiveness, please make sure you follow the program as written paying attention on how and when to deload, how to increase the weights, what weights to start at etc.

I started out doing HIIT directly after my lifting but to be honest I found myself getting too burned out to keep it up. However now (8 weeks in) I simply go for a 30 minute run on the evenings of my workout days. If you do any cardio I would do it on your workout days, leave rest days for resting. HIIT or steady state is fine as long as you eat accordingly and keep it under 30 minutes.

I can't answer your last question all I know is muscle gain is a slow process, however since SL will work everything evenely week in week out in theory your bulk should be even too - don't be afraid to gain a bit of fat though!
