    Due to Stalin's notoriety for 'rewriting History' and his deification of Lenin, I doubt there are many reliable contemporary sources. On this issue, I'd go for a secondary source which has a thorough analytical approach by a historian.

    i would love to BUT unfortunately my coursework requires at least 5 contemporary sources!!
