I've not heard of any pf this slang other than sick, wagwan and buff. And I suspect sick and buff probably mean something different to what I think they do.

Whenever I hear people saying wagwan it's always out of irony, and they're not middle class or privately educated or from London.

But then people find it odd when I say sound/boss/keg and pretty much any so called "northern-ism"- they're just what I grew up with.

You're right but a lot of it is probably because people take the piss out of middle class kids like somehow they should feel guilty for being born into whatever family they have been. I'm not that bothered but one thing that always annoys me is when people refer to parents off middle class kids as 'mummy' and 'daddy' as if all middle class people are spoilt/posh or whatever. You get so many people taking the piss out of middle class kids by making them seem insanely sheltered and then you wonder why they try to distance themselves from their stereotype. They sound pretty stupid but they're not as bad as the people who constantly rip on them for being born into a certain family, as if they'd be any different if they were in the same situation.

You're right but a lot of it is probably because people take the piss out of middle class kids like somehow they should feel guilty for being born into whatever family they have been. Definitely I understand that.. when I said "daddy and mummy" in this context I wasn't trying to imply that's how middle-class talk (like your standard "posh" accent)... but I got to say spoilt is a massive theme I do see amongst kids in the sort of schooling I had been in (my sixth form is far more diverse) but the sort of reliance these lot put on their parents for support (financially largely) and abundant cushioning I've seen a fair a few kids get from their parents (behaviour-wise and getting them whatever they want) it's like.. damn man you really going to act like you're from "the streets" and so need to relate with other people who are really from "the streets"... what you gaining from that?

Stop masking yourself and stop relying on your parent - then you can stand on your own two feet and say "I'm this person, and I can grow now".

People are far better off just trying to be humbler to themselves and then to others - that way we can actually see who people really are meant to be and allow them to develop into that person.

I agree and to be honest most middle-class kids who do it aren't doing it because they're embarrassed of being middle-class. I was just talking about when people take the piss out of middle-class people as if it's somehow their fault and so some of them become intent on proving that they aren't like that for acceptance.

I train in a gym where there's a lot of guys from estates and you get some private school guys come in and start talking like they're from the estates too haha. I don't really view that as a bad thing though in this sort of case... it's intimidating being different in a place like that. Yeah definitely and there's a real danger of there being different stigmas of the other class being this way or that, depending on what side of grass you're on. I suppose that's just people being complete c**ts though, or else jus people being ignorant. That's another thing that's all too common lool, but I think that's just humanity

That whole gym situation, I don't know I don't really agree with it but I get where you're coming from. But it's like one of my best mates is a middle-class kid, not posh sounding but well-spoken I suppose you could say, and very independent. The dude can hold real decent conversation with people who.. screw it we might as well call "hoodrats" (because they get up to stuff most people and the law really don't agree with), and he doesn't use the kind of words the OP's suggesting at all to try and relate to them - and they respect him for it. So with the gym thing I think people gotta find their feet so they can stand on them by themselves and be proud.. but eh people gonna do what they're gonna do
